Fry's is a decent store if you know what you need

I just helped a friend build a complete Pentium 4 1.3 GHz system which totaled about $900 with components from Fry's. After we finished it, we did some comparison shopping on the web and found similar components for only about $15 cheaper. Considering the convenience of being able to return parts locally and the cost of shipping I would say Fry's is a good choice for computer people.

YOu are right. At Fry's the sales people will often try to steer you away from the product you actually want ot buy to one that is of a price. Sometimes they will steer you to a better porduct, but usually not. I feel sorry for those who go into the Fry's with no idea of what they are getting into

Fry's is ok, their prices are just bout the same as other retail stores (eg bestbuy, circuit city, compusa). Its just that their products are a lot of times returned items or 2nd hand products...that's where it gets crappy. But being able to return stuff w/o question is kinda cool, but waiting in line forever is definitely crappy.
