Fry's in Plano Texas Opened Today. Its a soft opening, no anouncement was made, they just had so many folks lined up they decided to open at 5 pm today, and they were surprised at the number of folks wandering in. Hours will not be regular till sometime next week. Was told the Grand Opening will be sometime in January.
Oh and the Plano Fry's will honor the ads in the paper even though they aren't listed. Very nice looking store very much like the Irving Fry's, nothing at all like the rather junky Gallas and Arlington Fry's.
Happy Shopping.

Thanks for the update, I've been waiting on that. Is the soft opening permanent until the grand opening, like will they continue to stay open for now?

It is on the northeast corner of I-75 and 190 (George Bush )

Exit Plano Parkway on I75 head East, you will see it

A surreal scene this morning... Maybe 50-60 people were outside waiting to get in when they opened at 10. As we entered the store, all the employees were lined up inside the entrance, smiling, cheering and applauding customers as they entered. A far cry from the surly staff at the store on NW Hwy! :Q

They didn't have a full stock of merchandise in the store yet--word is that the official grand opening will be in January. What really impressed me was the wide selection of DVDs and CDs. It's not Tower Records, but they got close; lots of classical, country, even jazz (which you're not supposed to be able to find in Dallas, especially north of 635 ;)).

Does the store have a theme? Stores in the Bay Area have themes like Old West, Aztec, and Inventions

Looks like newer Fry's has no theme at all (the latest two Fry's open at Dallas, TX are more modern look building rather than the theme like)

The Oregon Fry's is uber ghetto. I hate it there. EVERY motherboard manufactured in the last decade is refurbished... and broken. It was funny, the other day I took back a mobo that would lock up after posting every time, no matter what RAM/CPU/Video Card/PSU it was attached to. So it was broken. After telling the guy, he accepted the return but then I watched the guy stick the new price sticker on it (a few % off the new price) so they can resell it. Geez.

Way north of Dallas, keep shooting up 75 past 635 and George Bush Turnpike and you'll end up in Plano.
