You would think they would build stores in major cities like New York, Chicago, etc. first before spending a mere $15 mil for just some land.

Yeah, about 1/2 mile from the Microsoft buildings. We're all going to have our paychecks direct deposited there.

Sweet...one near work and the other (Dallas) near home! I guess they are working hard on claiming more of my $$$. Glad I moved from northern VA! :)

Hmm.

The one in Phoenix is 2 hours away . . . Vegas is 3 hours away.

Come to Flagstaff, boys!

In November I stopped by the Frys in Industry CA - it's a huge store but it was freakin dead... must have been 20 - 30 cashiers and no one checking out... this was about 5pm on a weekday....

To the people that have been to the Fry's here in Vegas - were there any hot deals or sales going on?

Not any real great deals yet. Most of the employees said wait until the 17th grand opening for all of that.

They had a couple models of ECS boards (K7S5A, P4VXASD2+) as well as Dlink DI-604 in very large quantity's. So I would expect a sale on these. I would say they had 1500-2000 of the D-Links there as well as 500-600 each of the boards.

Funny how Fry's is expanding, but they're still using their 10+ year old inventory system. Maybe that's why they keep their costs low. Or that's how they bleed money. (I haven't seen their balance sheets). You'd think that with so many employees, you could find one that knew what they were talking about, but hey, I doubt any of us need help.

I've visited almost all Frys south of Northridge, CA to the Border ... and they all seem the same size to me.

It's true, there are 90 registers. When I went there on Black Friday all 90 were open (and the line stilll transversed the store twice).

Gee...what a useful post!

Anyway, I live in MD. anyone know if Fry's has any plans to hit the East Coast anytime in the next future? I always see all these deals posted, but Outpost doesn't seem to honor most of them.

What ever happened to the Fry's slated for the Chicago area? It was supposed to be up and running by Christmas, but I haven't heard anything else about it since someone posted last spring that we were getting one in the western suburbs.

I'd absolutely love to get one in the western burbs because Microcenter has a store there as well. I'd love to see a price battle between Fry's and Microcenter.

Heck, I'm a few hours away and I'd still make a roadtrip just to go to this store:)

There is around 3 fry's here (maybe 4) and a microcenter in the bay area and theres no comparision. All of microcenters prices seem to be jacked up.
About Fry's, only the stuff in the ad is cheap and they almost have no instore specials.
