Guy in tech line in front of me said the cpu was only 128k cache.

L1 cache is 128KB, but the L2 is definitley 256KB for the Sempron64 2800+ (2600+ only has 128KB of L2 cache).

And to cKGunslinger, it does come with a HSF, this bundle comes with a RETAIL BOX Sempron 2800+, so 3-yr warranty & HSF included...

Only an ass would crap in this thread like you did.
Well if he knew more about ecs motherboards he would know that it's the sis-based boards that had some problems (all those fry's deals that were sold to noobs). But even those sis-based boards have a lot of fans so it's a hard one to judge imho, ymmv.

Currently running A64 2800+. Would this be a better rig for me? My Athlon doesn't OC very well (especially not 2.6 like posted before) so I was wondering if the Sempron could give me better performance. Any thoughts?

Got this running rock stable at 2GHz/250MHz FSB, and DDR500 for my Kingston HyperX PC4000. All I need is a decent budget gaming AGP card for this cheapo computer (currently running Geforce3 TI200).

This is going to be a season where patience is rewarded, I would wait for a deal with the nforce, best boards I have used so far.

thanks mikeford.
checked out the 3000+ that comes with the new deal, and it is a sda3000babox (32bit) 🙁

I was in AZ for vacation this week, I got the Hitachi 80gb with rebates (last one), they have tons of ECS boards there.... I picked the Gigabite with Uli chipset for $79

i think the higher cache on the A64 is gonna help you out more than raw clock speed

$70 at Phoenix Thunderbird store, boxed cpu with fan and warranty. Also PS for $8. Thanks OP! CPU SDA2800AI03BA
Edit: Looks like the "BA" is 32 bit and the "BX" one is 64 bit.

64bit cpu right?
in the new ad it doesn't mention 64bit, but does mention the cool n quiet technology.

it doesn't states that it's a 64 bit Sempron but when I ran AMD's utility it does have 64 bit enabled. I love these cheap and cool Sempron.

man...I dont have a frys near me, i never even heard of it till recently. IS there anyway i can possibly get this online, or phone in and have it shipped?

Fry's Houston has them today for 69.95. They are not really bad at all. I have used a bunch of them without a single problem. How cheap can it get and the CPU is boxed.

1) Check with Outpost.com - Fry's online site.
2) Get some peep who lives near a Frys to pick something up for you and ship it.
You determine if the $5-$10 shipping costs is worth it to you.

3) Book a trip to LV. There is a Frys here right as you get out of the airport.
