Fry's ECS K7VTA3/2400+ combo @ 89.99 again (got a thorton core)

They went on sale again today at Fry's; are we surprised?

I picked up two K7VTA3's and two XP 2000s for $64.99 + tax for each combo pair.
Both CPUs are the following:
AXDC2000DUT3C
AQZFA 0341 XPMW
AMD Thornton BARE CPU
If its easy to enable the disabled cache, I may give it a try. I remember using a circuit tracer pen with previous cpus and I don't wish to go through that again.

For those that live near a Fry's as well, They sell conductive pen/ink. A tad expensive though... Think a pen (conductive silver) cost me around 10 bucks.

Which Fry's did you go to?

According to my sources, Bupkus is in Phoenix. Figures, the Sunnyvale Fry's never gets any of the good CPUs. It's right around the corner form AMD HQ as well. Maybe it's because they go dumpster diving for the CPUs. Has anyone gotten a Thorton from a SJ Bay Area store? Has anyone been able to Bartonize their Fry's Thortons?

I have been able to Bartonize my Thorton from Fry's. Went to FV Fry's today the combo came with a T-bred. Why can't Fry's combos be the same everywhere.

Sorry I didn't get to this sooner. My WinXP partition is trashed by a worm, but my Win98 partition is still working. I just don't have an email client set up on win98.
The Fry's I went to is in Phoenix on Thunderbird Ave.

Definitely giving out Thorntons in Sunnyvale. Just picked myself up one. Make sure you use the Thornton PLU number. There are two $64.99 CPU/Combo deals. The specs are exactly the same. The difference is whether you get a Thornton or a TBred. The one on the left, 3863627 is for the Thornton. It even says so on my quote and the subsequent receipt. It's nice of Fry's to separate out the deals so that you can pick the CPU you want. No more trial and error. What are they going to do next, have different numbers for TBred A and TBred B?

Has anyone bought this combo in Austin TX? I spoke with the sales rep there and he says all they have is Thoroughbred, no thorton. I find it had to believe that this store does not have thortons, while so many others do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
