You need to go into the cmos/bios setup screen at bootup, and enable the USB ports. Then you need to go into your control panel and look at device manager. There you will see that the drivers for the USB are not installed (well not the enhanced drivers)..... and you need to then put your Motherboards Utilities disk in your drive... then update the drivers for the USB ports... with the disk in the drive... it will take a while.. but eventually the drivers will be found and installed.
That is all you need to do.
FWIW i've been using this exact mobo for 3 or 4 months now and it's been rock solid...it's a very simple install with winxp, with win2k you do have to install a fair amount of drivers...here's the best place for info on this mobo:
