the an35n400 is an extremely well designed board. i've never tried overclocking on it, but im sure it'd fare ok since it has all the goodies overclocking boards have like bios options and a 12v input from the psu (many nForce2 boards dont have one and it hurts depending on what video card and chip you pair up)

i've had good luck with 2 of them, and they're 50 bucks at zipzoom.

you can get either...t-bred or thorton, bought two today but they both lock cpu.....still, they o/c like crazy, I have one running 180x12.5 1.77volt.

Are the locked multis lower on the higher end bartons (3200 etc) than the lower thortons due to the higher fsb? Therefore in theory, you could oc a lower one further due to the lower multiplier. Of couse the cheaper processor is less likely to run the higher speeds and it will all be slower with a lower than 200 FSB, but I was just wondering if this is true.

what MOBO are you using? I just got a axdc 2000DUT3C thorton and can not get the thing to post with my l7s7a2 mobo. I even flashed the bios to the most recent. My 1700+ will run at 2.0ghz no problem, but when I put the thorton in, even on autodetect with no modifications it powers up then shuts down right away. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

got xp2000 combo. the L2 bridge is locked, so i can't unlock it for barton

but it's stable at 166mhz fsb . default volt

When you say locked, what do you mean? I thought you could put conductive ink or graphite on the bridge to make it a Barton.

Bought three of these combos, they are all thorton, and they are all locked but they can run at 166 front side bus at default voltage, I also bought the 2200 and this one is a thorton running 200 x11=2200 at default voltage but this one is unlock, ran prime95 for 24 hours max temp was 50C....It seems to me most of these thorton have a hight yield for o/c(Asus mobo A7N8X).

damnit.. my ECS K7VTA3 8.0 just died on me trying to install XP. Now it wont' boot, looks like its goign back to get one of those lovely stickers...
