I hated to create a new thread but I looked at all the Seagate threads by searching and there wasn't one I could bump that wouldn't seem like an old thread where the deals have gone from dead to alive to dead. And since this is a Fry's only one-day deal, I thought it merited it's own thread. The Outpost deal for this drive is dead. 400GB Seagate at Outpost

Deal is for the 8MB cache model.
SKU# is 4303145

No. I do wonder if these are 7200.8 or 7200.9 models like the Outpost 16MB drive?

The ad is misleading though; I believe it implies you can get either the 8MB or 16MB cache version for the same price.

Yea it seems .9 are better than .8, is this a .8 drive?

.7 and .9 are the good ones, but i think they are liquidating the .7s

I picked up the last one at Fry's San Jose and the Seagate part Number from the box is ST3400832A. Appears it's a 7200.8 drive.

The Seagate link for this model number is here, ST3400832A

The 400Gb 16MB cache is a 7200.9 Seagate ST3400633A

The link for all Barracuda Model numbers is right here

Any way you slice it, its a great deal, but I couldn't make a special trip to Frys just for that.

By around 2pm, both Palo Alto & Sunnyvale stores were sold out of the $99.99 drives.
