Just got back from frys a little while ago.

I picked up a 1tb Hitachi 7200rpm 32mb retail drive today only special 69.99

I was gonna get the WD but passed because of the warranty....Was told only 1yr.

Are these drives any good?

On the box it said 3yr warranty which I thought was good enough.

When I look up the model by number on drive or static bag it says 5yr warranty ???

Did I get a free upgrade or downgrade from Hitachi? Box was factory sealed not a returned item.

Does anybody know how many platters are in this drive.

Model # HDE721010SLA330

Thanks

I'm running 7 of these drives. 4 of which I've had 2 years. Haven't had a single die.

Glad I got in on this drive when Bing cashback jumped up in August. Scored one from ZZF for $45 after a $10 rebate. Still wishing I bought more hardware when Cashback went up that day.

I believe there are 4 platters in the A revision drive.

My local Fry's in Fountain Valley substituted it with a Seagate 1TB 7200.12 retail box with 5 years warranty.... Not bad....going to get more but they sold out....

I picked up one of these on Saturday, 10/10 not realizing it was a one day sale. It was DOA out of the box. :(

I picked up the Hitachi looking for a gigantic drive to use for a DVR in my PC. The Fry's I went to didn't seem to have any of the advertised $59.99 WD drives in stock, so $10 more for the Hitachi drive sounded great.

I have a 250GB Hitachi drive in my PC and have never had a problem with it, so I'm hoping this is just a fluke.
