Fry's B&M Antec Truepower Trio 550 $59.99 - $30 MIR

"In addition to all of this; I also couldn't find any circuitry beyond the traces that actually "divide" these rails. And on the load tester, I found that there actually is no OCP, so there is no 19A per 12V rail "limit" either. Just seems to be a single +12V rail PSU! Which actually isn't such a bad thing, but dammit! The label says I get three +12V rails and the PSU is called the "Trio" after all!"

"SUMMARY:

The Antec Trio is a great budget PSU. It does have solid rails, is quite efficient, quiet, has active PFC and SLI/Crossfire capable. The only thing I can't report on is longevity. Keep in mind that the Antec Trio is not built on the same platform as other Seasonics, such as the Corsair HX units, the PC Power and Cooling Silencer or Seasonic's own S12 and M12 models. But at $120, it's certainly far from overpriced.

The Good....

*
Good voltage regulation
*
High efficiency
*
Active Power Factor Correction

The Bad....

*
Couldn't handle claimed capability of +12V rail when put in the Hot Box

The Mediocre....

*
Ugly gray box
*
Other than the ATX cable, no sleeves on any of the cables"

A decent PSU for this price.

jg's review

I am thinking of alll the arguments about PSU's here on forums like AT, and I think of all the old Dells,HP's, and Gateway PC's out there chugging along year after year with crappy PSU's. Of course word processing and accounting do not put a big strain on a PC, but then I think of all the dustbunnies in those PC's and I am awestruck they keep running at all. 🙂

The OP's post refers to Fry's B&M since he stated that the sale is good Wed and Thurs. The second poster put up a Fry's.com link. The in-store deal is 59.99 after 60.00 instant savings.
Deal in the SJMN

Funny thing is that the Fry's.com rebate shows the rebate good at all Fry's electronic stores. If this was able to be applied after buying it at Fry's B&M for 59.99 with a 30.00 MIR would make this a nice deal. The other rebates I had from Outpost/Fry's.com specifically stated at Fry's.com only so this is different.

oh- then I guess OP needs to clarify considering "Frys" is also the website now and the link Rallymaster posted was website and undisputed by OP.
anyhoo- no problem...

Just remember, the Fry's offer is the 550. Jonny's review is for the 650. I am willing to bet the 550 would pass his tests with flying colors.

The 650 passed the hotbox test at 647 watts output (42a on the 12v) and 655watts @ 51a on the 12v in cold testing (the way you normally run an adequately cooled computer). The 550 watt model should do....well....550 watts easily......They use a Hitachi main cap, and OST for the others (very acceptable for psu). It may not have hit its' rating, but make no mistake about it, this psu puts out some high, quality power.

Antec would have been spared Jonny's wrath had it decided to name the 650 a Trio 630 or 620. There would have been no black eye.

The Trio line is quite good for the money, don't let an extreme torture test keep you from buying these units, they are excellent under normal operating conditions.....afterall, who pumps hot air back into a computer? 😉 only a fool obviously (not you Jonny 😛).....

Yep for those in the Houston TX area the rebate is good and it goes to Antec so it should not be a problem. Nice deal in store with rebate $119.00-$60.00 IR -$30. MIRB = $34.93 inc TAX .0825% GREAT DEAL. I have one sitting next to me.

$30 off the $59 should work. Great price. The ad says up to 85% efficient. Thats about as good as they get, Right? I currently have a ultraV 400 watt. Works well so far but my e4400 is typically only at 120 watts. Any guesses how much less power this would use? I'm guessing 3-5 watts max. Anyone ever find more savings than that? I may get it anyway just looking to justify it 🙂

Which store did you get this? The one by 59 in southwest?
I am thinking to buy one tomorrow after work.

Thank you!

Yes I went to the 59 SW Freeway location.

Thanks for the rebate link - this is awesome. $30 AR makes this an even better deal.

When's Fry's going to catch on to this?
