i did it once and failed once. they usually know that you bought it in a combo cause nobody just buys these ecs boards alone from frys =P

oh yeah and the time i failed they said they would only give me another board without receipt.

They can prob pull the sale up with the serial number on the board. So your scam won't work. I think they started doing this probably partially for this reason, and because deadbeats were buying new boards then taking their old burnt out ones for the return.

I miss out of them too when I'm slow. Hope they have a good deal on hard drives, missed out on the last best buy deal.

i meant if you lived in a non-urban area (unlike san diego) you got a better chance at scoring deals.

Here is a stupid question for you. When the hell is the sale?

In the San Diego advert I didn't see any specific day for the sale listed (although I assume it is saturday). Then every item listed had a big "one day only" box next to it. Then at the bottom of the page it said all prices are good from today through next friday.

What the f---?!?!?!?

Here's a couple of the things people might be interested in.

  • 99 cents/six pack of coke/sprite/diet coke- limit eight 6 packs per person

  • 25 cents for a coke & hot dog

  • MOBO-CPU Combo- bare 2.4 P4 533MHz w/ECS P4VXASD2+ $159.99 (#3577844)

  • MOBO-CPU Combo- bare Athlon XP 2400+w/ECS K7S5A Pro $119.99 (#3618925)

  • Columbia FRS Radio 2-pack FAR ($25-$25 MIR) (#3577804)

* I also listed the #XXXXXXXX listed in the ad. Can anyone else in another city confirm if they have the same #'s in their ad? Or perhaps someone can ask a salesman to check the system to see if these combo/sale items are effective in other areas even if they aren't advertised.

I am soooooo sorry for not looking into when these sales were to take place. I went back and looked at the ad and the effective dates were for Tuesday and Wednesday ONLY (14th &15th). The 25 cent Hot Dog & Coke combo are for Saturday 11am-3pm (May 17th). Sorry to anyone who wasted a trip. Remember this ad was from the LA Times, so it's for LA area stores.

There was another ad today in the LA Times. This time the ad is a 4 page insert. This is for the following LA area stores= Burbank, Fountain Valley, Woodland Hills, Manhattan Beach, Anaheim, and City of Industry. You can see the ad online here: LA TImes ads online. Click on the Technology link.

You're so right. They could have done much better. Nonetheless, there are a few good deals if you poke around.

I hit the Burbank store at 9:30. Stock seemed pentiful although the power supplies (350W for $2.99 after $27 MIR) were going fast. (I grabbed one myself.)

Two other items that caught my eye:

Garrity 2AA Flashlight w/Multi-Tool = $6.99. In the land of earthquakes, there's no such thing as "too many flashlights." This comes packaged with batteries and a pouch with belt loop for the multi-tool.

25 Piece Tri-Fold Tool Set = $2.99. Even if you already have every tool in the kit this is definitely a hot deal. (Grab a couple of these and stick them in the closet. Two less Christmas presents to worry about.) :D

the .25 hot dog and coke (limit three) runs from 11am to 3pm

The $4.99 case and power supply (which I bought) is getting low on stock, so get your hiney into the store

The 50" HDTV for $999 is a Philips model# 50pp9202

happy now?

Okey Dokey. I got my calendar out, and I can't find "today" on it anywhere! Now what should I do?

PS: It says "One Day Only" Not "Today Only", and the fine print still says prices good through next week.
