Fry's Ad is up stollen from huge wallet. orginal post modified.

Is this the black Friday ad????? I don't really see anything worth getting up for in the MB and CPU dept..... theyre only dropping DURONS!?!??!
I also notice that here in Houston the Fry's paper is normally more pages than this.... could it be that there will be another paper on Friday as usual???

"Damn, I wish they had fry's in the East Coast"

There was a note at www.clarkhoward.com last summer stating that Fry's was building as store near the Atlanta GA suburban Gwinnett Gwinnett Mall area . I would like to know when they will open .

for those of you considering Fry's Rebates, let me remind you of the Horror that nearly all of us experienced with last year's Black Friday 80gb Maxtor HD for $50 AR ...

The first rebate from Maxtor came in on time for most of us. 6-8 weeks - $20 check

The second rebate from Fry's didn't come in until May!!!! That's 6 months for $50 check!

Am I saying not to trust Fry's? NO. Am I saying you won't get your rebate? NO. Buyer beware, be patient, or don't bother.

there are a couple of nice things: Nero 6 Ultra for $20 and a 450W PSU for $10. i didn't even know AMD made a 1.8GHz Duron, weird.

...I second that! My rebate actually came in a little bit earlier... after 4 months. Rebates will come in but patience is needed to enjoy their deals.

The Ati 9600 at BB doesn't have TV out. I'm going to pick up another 5600 Ultra. At stock speed they're pretty much equal except for a couple of DX9 games (TR and probably HL2).

I need TV out, so I'm going for the BFG 5600 Ultra.

the only real notable item is frys has the 160 gig wd for $60 after rebate.

which works out ot be 37.5 cents per gig before tax.

for us california people it'll be $73.19 after rebate+ tax which comes out to be 45 cents per gig.

... Thanks! I'll probably end up getting the 5600 ultra. Gonna wake up early tomorrow to get these toys...WD HD, 5600 and the Enermax case.🙂

Oh c'mon... anyone who's ever shopped in a Fry's knows not to trust Fry's!

<<stollen from huge wallet>>

stollen is more of a Christmas thing.

my favorite is the kind with almond paste.

😉

^^^ LOL

That 51" TV for $999 looks pretty good but I'd bet it's either RCA, Philips, or JVC all of which are pretty mediocre IMO.

Besides, I got in on that $849 Samsung 54" HDTV deal at CC last week. 😀

Instant Gift Checks? Are they just gift certificates?

It's an instant discount, not a gift card. I really have no idea why Fry's does it that way.

Is the Hauppauge WinTV-Go a good deal for $20?

It's an ok deal. It has the bt878/879 chip on it so it's pretty compatible with everything, but also pretty dated. I had one in my HTPC, but I wasn't really happy with the record resolution/framerate and full screen TV is only marginally acceptable.

It works nicely if all you need is TV in a window and limited recording capability, like for VCDs.

that giant sucking noise you hear is the collective SUCK of this years black friday deals. Its insulting that some of these companies think they should protect these things until they hit the paper. More than likely, they need to protect them becuase if people have a week or so to think about it, they will just sleep in.
