I appreciated your post, finally some one from DFW area posted a Fry's ad.

If it's not always true, please correct me, exactly 2 times, I saw a deal on anandtech forum
regarding to CPU/Motherboard deal on Fry, the price is somehow $20 higher than some place
that someone posted regarding to same items.

One is on Duron 800 & FIC AZ11 for $109 ------> DFW fry $129, while back.
The other one, I brought w/ & for my friend, I forgot the detail, it's on TB 900 & motherboard
for $129.

I have noticed that alot of the combos that Fry's offers vary in price and cpu in various markets also.......I will try to post on Fridays as long as my boss brings in the paper.....if he only knew he was contributing to my performance (or lack thereof) at work......The bad thing about Fry's is that they will not separate the combos and give you the same price on either of the compnents....I only need a cpu, but the individual price of the cpu is much higher than in the combo deal.

Not that I'm suggesting outright fraud or anything, but......

When Fry's rings up your "combo" deal, it registers as individual parts....not a combo sku on the receipt. Long story short? Buy the combo, and return the parts you don't need since it shows as individual items purchased on the receipt...

Simple, really.

I and many of my friends have tried that several times....the damn cashiers actually are trained to notice when you are trying to scam...I think it is the only thing they are trained.....but anyway....there is a markdown taken when the rep on the floor gives you the ticket to go to the register with (you get the mobo from the floor rep and the cpu from the cashier), they know when you bought it in a combo deal, and won't give refunds on half the ticket...at least in my experience....your mileage may vary.
