I didn't catch the Times' switch from "electronics" to "technology." Thanks for posting.

AOM Collectors Edition $19.99

Damnit, I bought this for $45 last week. Still worth it though, Great game!!!

Thinking about this more, if you want this deal, I would hurry. It may be a mistake, because it says regular price is $54.99, but Fry's sells this at regular price for $74.99. But I could have sworn the non-collectors edition was $39.99. Who knows, maybe the price dropped. I can say this much, the City of Industry Fry's had tons of these on the shelf on Wednesday when I went. Maybe it wasn't selling well.

Freedom Force is also $9.99, I'll be picking that up.

This has happened numerous times before and they ALWAYS ended up in Retail Goods -> Electronics.

Make up your mind, sheesh.
I wonder how you could find other cities online ads, like dallas, chicago etc
Look for the online edition of your local newspaper that has the ads.

Just went and bought AOM Collectors Edition at Frys. They did not have any on the floor but they had some in the back when I asked one of the salesman if they had any in stock. The ad doesn't mention only one per customer but they have a notice to that affect on the shelf. I wanted to get three so I could give a couple to my buddies for networking.
Does anyone know if CompUsa, OM, CC, or Staples will match the Frys price?

That's a 2000+ Bare... Fry's in NorCal had the same combo w/ a Retail CPU a month ago for the same price... Sorta makes this deal cold :/ You would think they would lower the price because a.) Bare is inferior to Retail (cheaper at least), and b.) depreciation after a month... :/

The motherboard itself is kind of wierd.. it supports both SDRAM and DDR, but by default the settings are for SDRAM. The engineering on the board itself is horrible.. you need to move about 20 different pins to switch to DDR. The pins aren't that bad because they have them in like sets of "4 or 5" if i recall correctly. I bought the 2.0GHz celeron combo a while back and it seemed to perform ok.. but stability might be an issue.

I started to get some random delays when I would push the start button in windows after burning in the system over night. I never had that problem prior to that.

My opinion is.. if stability is a big concern don't buy this mobo.. I would opt for a Intel-based chipset mobo of maybe even a SIS 645 or 648.

I always felt that VIA and Intel didn't mix well with each other.

Hope this helps.

Ok, CC pm'ed Freedom Force, but they were only selling it at $19.99, so the it wasn't that great a deal. The cashier only matched @ 100%, not 110%, she said the manager had to approve that and if I wanted to wait. To tell you the truth, $1 or 2 wasn't worth it. So I walked out paying $10.80. But it was worth it to not have to deal with friday Fry's zerg rush, and besides, if I were to walk into Fry's I would have spent way more than $10. Keeps my wallet happy.

FYI, this CC in City o' Industry didn't carry the CE of AOM. So no pm opp there. YMMV at others. I think CompUSA carries the CE of AOM.

I love the Kirbyish artwork for Freedom Force, really cool.

i'm not sure if your'e talking about the earlier revision of the board or whatever, but i have the ECS k7s5a rev. 3.1 running and the manual makes no mention of these pins. Looks like you can just plug them in now without any jumper settings. I don't see the pins you're referring to on the board either.

Anyone know the model number for the 256mb Kington valuram DDR ram for $39.99 after rebate? Is it retail. Could I pM it at BB or CC? BB currently has Kingston 256MB DDR ram KVR266X64C25-R for $89.99 before $25 rebate. Wonder if its the same as the Frys ram.

Drugs are bad, mmmkay!

Still some AOM left at San Diego, they just were in the back of the stock room. Asked if they had any more in stock and they placed some more up on the shelves.

If anyone knows where to find ads for New York City, please let the forum know! I'verr tried half a dozen newspapers and none had online versions of their printed ads. I'm not even in NYC, but some of the ads in those papers from shady dealers are incredibly useful for PM/BVG. . . .

I wonder if this is Sacramento Fry's only coz you guys havn't mention it.

Sac Fry's Ad has Corsair 256MB PC3200 DDR for 84.99, didn't say what timing on it though.
