Frustrating PC issue

Okay, so I have this PC giving weird, weird errors.

Specifically, three. I fix two, which were complaints about NTFS corruption.

However, I get stuck with a third one I can't fix normally - HARDWARE_IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL or whatever.

Fiddle with it a bit, can't boot into windows stably before it comes up, say screw it, replace the RAM.

Still no luck - same error.

I go to reinstall windows.

It freezes during the install process.

I replace the motherboard and processor, as well as upgrade the drives from PATA 120gb to SATA 250gb, and reinstall windows.

The install process completes successfully. I can boot into safe mode - but normal windows mode gives me a black screen.

So, thinking I had a problem with the cd drive, I replace that as well. Reinstall windows.

Still the same black screen.

I replace the PSU, go to power it up like normal. Nothing.

I use the old PSU. Still nothing.

I go back to the old mobo - still nothing.

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Shorted the PWSW pins.

Shorthand version of what was wrong - PC case powerbutton was defective. Wow. WTFMATE?

Your windows would not boot all the way? So you shorted them with a screw driver instead of using the power button and it booted up just fine?
