Frozen Synapse

This game is cool but very tough.

Started playing the campaign and got through the 1st 3 missions. The 3rd one was a bitch because of the sniper. Ended up restarting and it gave me a layout that was very much in my favor. The one before that had lots of open spaces and the sniper had a perfect spot.

you get 2 copies of the game when you buy it so I gifted one to my friend. Will be interesting to see how multiplayer turns out.

This game is fantastic and ridiculously addicting for what it is. It's also the ultimate play at work game.

Not bad.
Not optimised well
I cant seem to get my troops to shoot, The enemy walks right past them and they do nothing.

It got a little easier for me when I learned how to time popping up and shooting at the red team, from behind a barrier.

Lorne: What type of units are you using? Rockets and Grenade troops do not fire automatically. Machine guns are best for overall supporting fire, shotguns have a pretty limited range (and will not fire if too far), snipers take a long time to aim, but are great at opposition behind cover.

Oy.

The level with the tripwires is killing me. The rocket launcher is consistently squashing my unit.

This game needs a separate notifier program that sits in the system tray to tell you when you have new turns. Maximum damage to productivity!

Anyone figure out how to disable constant invitations from other players during single player, without having to log-off?

It's really distracting trying to play when you're constantly bombarded with invitations for matches.

I just get alot of stupid troops, I can have one crouched behind a block facing 180 of it, waiting for enemy to walk into the open in complete aim view like 15' away, Walk another 15' and into a door not seeing my guy or turn before the door and see my guy and kill him.

Is there a setting for my troops to up there smarts or make them put down the phone and shoot

Happens way to often, Ive gotten to the point where as soon as this happens I just restart the lvl

depends on what "class" your dude is. if it's a shotgun guy, they have limited range. if it's a rocket or grenade guy, they don't attack automatically, you have to force them to attack. Snipers take some time to acquire a target.
rifle guys should shoot on sight.

now, is your dude facing the window while crouched? If so, he is below the plain of view and can't see the enemies outside the walls, nor can the enemies see him.

also, you can do a ignore move where you ignore any enemies and don't stop to shoot them, this can get you through areas without getting shot.

seriously, play the tutorial, this is all there.

Shotgun guys seem to stop and try to acquire a target even if that target is slightly out of range - they freeze while trying to line up a shot, and usually die - they never actually shoot because of the range. I always put shotgun guys on "ignore enemies" or "continue moving" until they get close. Worst thing to happen to shotgun guys is when they freeze out in the open.

The shotgun guys are pretty weak unless you're inside a building and can get close to people. I tend to use them as bait to lure the enemy into my sniper sights.

Interesting, I use my shotgunners by far the most. Use covering fire with machine guns and have the shotgunners run along the walls to pop around a corner and ambush units. Shotguns have by far the best initiative, so if you get them in range under cover then pop out they will almost always win. If you have them aim in a certain direction right before popping out they start firing even faster.

Shotguns, Not a window and as I explained right in front of them waiting for somone to come into view, Not set on wait, hold or dont shoot.

There just stupid, Or the AI engine is really bios.
I have had the AI's take shots with through what would be a 1" space from long distance instant reaction, Im like WTF.
