Frozen Pizza Modification.

OK....I'm not much of a cook, so I buy frozen pizzas frequently. My favorite brand is usually a little light on toppings. So how do I manage a few mods?

Let the pizza thaw out...then add more toppings. Then bake it?

Put the frozen pizza in the oven....then add more toppings after it is partially baked?

What type of tomato paste to use?

Any other suggestions?

No, I'm not ordering one...too expensive. This type I'm wanting to modify goes five for $10. Tastes good but it needs a little help.......

Just get the toppings you want at the store (pepperoni, cheese, etc) and put them on the pizza, then bake it.

If you use fresh veggies, though, you make want to cook them beforehand and then add them to the toppings and then bake, since you don't necessarily want to bite into a pizza with only partially cooked veggies on it.

the best is if you saute your toppings in olive oil first. HMMMM. olive oil rocks.

then put them on top of the pizza and bake in oven till cheese melts real good. 🙂

be careful... im pretty sure messing with the tomato paste voids the warranty and you wont be able to RMA it.

no no no, when you mess with the paste you can burn out the crust really fast. if you want... pm me and i can send you to a site that will tell you how to properly mess with tomatoe paste... unfortunatly the entire site is in korean. 😛

Yeah, you'd probably want to cook the vegetables before hand. Maybe if you wanted to add bacon, you could cook the bacon soft, then let the oven finish the job.

it depends on the quality of the ingredients
some frozen pizza makers use sub par ingredients and it really shows in the OCing potential

Are frozen pizza toppings partially cooked and the baking just finishes the job? So should any additional toppings you add, say for instance green peppers, be cooked before-hand (how much)?

And should the frozen pizza be allowed to thaw before you add this extra stuff? So far I've been disappointed with results. It seems like the additional stuff never gets cooked to the same degree as the OEM frozen pizza.

Sorry I cannot read Korean....anybody ever found an English site devoted to pizza mods?

man, you should learn how to cook. it doesn't take up much time to cook a simple meal, and you get to have a healthy and nutrious dinner/lunch/ whatever. i've cooking for a while so heres what i do when i want to kick it up a knotch. get an onion and tomato, cut it and put it on the pizza, left over sausage can be used on the pizza too. just bake it as usual, and it should taste much fresher. haha. actually it doesn't taste much fresher. the pizza already have toppings on it already, so putting more stuff is not going to make it better unless you make a pizza from scratch.

But even with lower quality peripherals you can overclock your pizza by atleast 350 degrees.

On a semi-serious note, why not freeze your soon to be added ingredients so they thaw with the rest of the pizza. It wont taste as good, but it wont be horrible either. Or make your own pizza from scratch.

and dont forget some Gorgonzola - hmm awesome

btw I have never heard that vegetables normally used for pizza (e.g. no potatoes) are cooked

did you just say OEM pizza?... hehe 😀

if they arn't getting cooked, toss those peppers in a pan and saute them for a while.. then put them on the pizza. as far as the meats go, they arn't cooked when they are put on the pizza.

maybe if you put the pizza in the oven still frozen... and put the extra toppings on the frozen pizza (assuming these added toppings are room temp) they would be done at the same time? right? in theory... 😀 , the frozen pizza would take longer to cook, thus giving the extra topping more time to cook...? or have you tried this already?

Jack's Natural Rising pizzas are the best frozen pizzas - made in my home town!

(I'm not partial - I love pizza and have tried every kind at the store out at one point or another)

if your going to mess with the sauce on a frozen pizza, I have just one word.... boboli.

Its just the crust, add your mods, then 8 minutes in the oven.

you know, if your're gonna go through the effort of modding the pizza - why not just bake your own...
go to foodtv.com and grab any ole pizza recipe and bake your own pizza...

Pizza = yummy!

Sometimes I add more green pepper, or I used to before I found Papa Johns, and I would thinly slice it and add it. Same with canned pineapple...you can just drain that and add and it is yummy!

If you wanna cheaply mod you pizza,

I suggest getting a bag of frozen chopped grean pepper(it will last you a long time), and pickup or grow some fresh Tomato's cut about half of a nicely sized tomato into slices, put a little olive oil on top of the slices and sprinkle with a little parmesan and oregano, and now you have an awesome frozen pizza, plus you don't have to thaw anything out just add this stuff on top of the pizza.

Other things you could easily add for cheap:
Pineapple
Onion
Mushrooms
Various cheese types
Plus many more
