Trying it on my spare Captivate now. First time doing anything to an Android phone to make it non-stock.

JI6 for Vibrant is not Froyo

Why would the ROM names be different indications then? Meh, just trying to help SGS owners out ... have you seen anything for the Vibrant yet? I don't stray into their message boards ...

There are 2 Froyo builds out there right now that aren't 100%. Eugene's works pretty good but there are some button mapping issues and some other weird stuff.

Keep in mind JI6 isn't a ROM, its a software update. Samsung uses a structured system to name their updates. J=year I=month 6=date

Or something like that.

Put JI6 on my spare Captivate. It works fine. Still has a lot of lag issues. Now that I broke my phone stock cherry I might try some lag fixes, if any work with JI6.

the lag fixes will work fine. I still use Ryanza's just because its the easiest to undo

Can you confirm you've tried that lag fix with JI6 on the Captivate? I got the impression from xda that none are working yet.

Also, does anyone know if HSUPA+ works out of the box with JI6 (I think the answer is NO), and if not, how to enable it? I asked this on xda too but no response yet. I saw someone mention that HSUPA works with the new update, but several people have also posted that their uploads are still capped. So I think you need to apply a modem firmware to enable HSUPA+. Just guessing.

HSUPA is NOT working, and it would require a kernel mod to activate it. And yes, the lag fix DOES work on JI6, as confirmed by the thread. If you read the thread on XDA, you'd know the answers ;)

And I have my phone @ JI6 w/ OCLF installed and working.

The thread is over 100 pages, I don't have time to read all of that. The phone is something I like to use for it's utility, for me it's not a hobby in itself.

What is OCLF?

If it's not important enough for you to research, then why ask the question? I read every single post in there ... and 80% of the posts were because of people like you who ask questions before researching. There IS a search function on XDA - did you try that before asking?

And OCLF is One Click Lag Fix - it's on the Market.

I would avoid all lag fixes besides voodoo. That's the only complete solution (complete overhaul of the internal storage filesystem).

***VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT VOODOO****

Make sure to follow the removal instructions before trying to flash a different ROM, lag fix, ANYTHING! You will soft brick your phone and be in for a good hour of flashing and reflashing.

That's why I stick with Ryanza's. I get just as good of benchmark scores and its a 10 second process to remove it.

While I don't disagree - it's not out for Froyo yet, and the stupid filesystem that Samsung uses sucks. If you use v2 of OCLF, it does utilize file checks before engaging the Ext2 system.

I sifted through the first 50 pages before posting here, and found no information about lag fix working. Every mention of lag fix in the first 50 posts was about disabling it in order to install the Froyo update.

Anyways, are there any gotchas or drawbacks, quirks, bugs, etc, related to that OCLF you are running? I read the FAQ but it doesn't really mention any drawbacks .

Some people like it some don't. I find that it slows down the market a bit but it greatly improves benchmarks.

Just use the OCLF so that you can easily undo it. If you like that, then play around with Voodoo or whatever else you like. Remember that you can always flash back to stock so you aren't going to break anything.

Well I did Master Clear, and that resolved the lag issues I was having, so no need for one of the file system lag fixes just yet.

2.2 up and running. I couldn't disable my lagfix (ext4) via sl4, but had no issues going to 2.2. Want to do the cognition mod, but that requires going back to 2.1. Wish I had figured that out prior to taking the leap of faith to 2.2.

Going back to 2.1 is just as easy as it was to go to 2.2, isn't it? I thought you just had to get the Odin3 one-click downloader for JF6 (which is the previous official 2.1 version for Captivate)?
