Frontside or Backside?

wow, figured we had some boarders/skaters here.

go figure.

How about a nasty ally-oop mute 540? That's still backside turn, but frontside on the pipe.

HOLY CRAP! I forgot about Skate or Die. I used to pwn at the pool joust! That was one of the few games I owned. I think someone got it for me at xmas time or something.

yeah, that's when skating was first catching on.

"skate or die dude!!!!!"

But I was actually talking about "real life." Some folks feel more comfortable frontside and others backside.

OH SH!T how did i miss this thread 😀 😀 😀

i love skating. i prefer backside, it feels more natural to me. frontside tricks i can't do as well. 180s are about it. frontside kick/heelflips dont do it for me. i can do both backside though 😀

so what the hell is goofy foot?

One of my senior design professors had it in a bio somewhere...it was wierd..."masters at sci-arc, principal at xxxxx, winnar of blah, blah, blah. He also skates goofy foot."

It makes a lot more difference on a surfboard. I prefer to surf frontside... angles are better.

yeah, that's a little different - but not really.

Lot easier to push with your back foot frontside.

Probably has a lot to do with are you left footed or right footed?

left foot forward = regular
right foot forward = goofy

for some reason, i really hate it when people push mongo. Why do they do that? Are they trying to look unique and different? Well its retarded because it reduces your prep time to do tricks.

when you guys say back side, you guys mean to push mongo right?

when I say backside, you turn to your backside. Your back is to the outside of the turn/air.

regular foot frontside = turn/air to the left.
reverse for backside

Basically define it as "where my torso is is pointing when I start to turn"

That's why ally-oops are so fun....you approach frontside but turn backside. Adds a whole nutter element, but still a beautiful air.

What is really difficult is a frontside ally-oop. The body just doesn't want to go that way for some reason.

Goofy Frontside flips...but I loved popping big backside heels or kicks. Fakie frontsides we're harder but so much prettier then my cabflips.

agreed. frontside fakies are really hard for some reason. It just feels so unnatural.,

Well, I paddle with right-hand-control, and my boat is not great when it comes to going backwards, so I prefer what would be the paddler's equivalent of frontside 🙂

bump, interesting that regular vs. goofy is so close although frontside is still preferred.

backside mute can be loads of fun or couple that with the age old mctwist.

always found that it's easier to do 360+ on backside, you can see ahead of your much better.

For example a backside 360 is pretty straight forward, but a frontside 360 is much more difficult. But big air - gimmie frontside.
