Frontline: Behind Taliban Lines

and no one thinks that there might be a little usage going on here??? are those guys really so dumb that they show that they're so dumb, or was the reporter a bit of a tool???

i just have a lot of scepticism about most reporting any more...

and i guess i wonder if watching this would influence our poohbahs???

Wait, you think they set it up to make themselves look dumb? I'm not sure if I get what you're saying exactly?

Sure is hard to believe about a bunch of illeterate impoverished guys in a barren desert.

Fox has raised that issue.

This isn't Fox.

Will it influence our VOTERS?

Our leaders have an agenda pressured by the corporatocracy, not easily changed by a video like this. The people are the ones being filled with propaganda - can they learn?

Yesterday, there was news the guy we are supporting to be in power, former Unocal employee and crrent president, took over the election watchdog that exposed his last election as fraudulent.

Try to get our sheepish war-supporting righties to give a crap and have any standards for their cheering war.

What do you find insightful about it?

Well, they simply see us as 'non-believers'. This is really telling. For them, it is a religious war. That means, given the muslim birthrate, they can produce enough soldiers to outlast us. Also, the head of the Taliban operation is in Pakistan. The Pakistanis run the show over there.

Hi Narmer! You really didn't know that before you watched it?

No, not really. For them, it's a simple 'us vs. them' mentality. This attitude permeates the civilians as well and makes it impossible for us gain any upperhand. The religious aspect bothers me because it allows the Taliban to paint the government forces as non-believers as well. Something tells me this is a war we cannot win. People may say 'well, what about iraq?'. Iraq may fall apart the moment we leave.

EDIT: They look forward to martyrdom like Americans look forward to a meal.

The video was somewhat interesting from an intel perspective... there were various things from it that troops in the field could use. It touched on how they were supplied, communicated (heavy use of cell phones and I was surprised at how much C2 was going on), how they moved, and how they operated. I can guarantee that OPD/NCOPDs will happen over this vid.

Primitive and almost comical, but able to operate without huge logistical needs and still disrupt Coalition operations.

yeah... impossible that their 'millionaire businessman' leader isn't a bit savvy about how we'all are pretty easily influenced by tv drama? make us seem mean and dumb for using our fancy bombs to pick on them? have us get rid of the soldiers and just make it a 'crime issue' and not a 'terror issue'...

maybe i'm just thinking up a pulp novel plot, but that's what i get for having spare brain cycles...

That was very difficult and uncomfortable to watch. I'm glad that the reporter made it out alive to tell the story.

i once again guess that i'm just a dick, but the "you are lucky i am your friend, because the other guys want to kill you" bit just strikes me as a b movie good cop bad cop routine...

i just have a hard time buying anything coming from any source any more... there's always more to the story, it seems...

So,,, would it shock you or be believable if someone told you that the powers that be on the "us" side are also fighting the war from a religious perspective? I mean,,,what other possible reason would there be to engage them?

It isn't about winning anyway, it is about containment and roll-back.

They could just as well have cut his head off, and here we are, talking about how they didn't.

It could be theater, but the guy that got away certainly didn't feel that way.

I just watched it and I sorta agree with you. I'm thinking if these guys were really that concerned (as indicated) about the journalist he would have been killed like many others before him.

We're fighting for 9/11, not Christianity.
