That sucks OP, they tried to pull a quick one on you and you called them on it. Well done.

What they did wasn't good for you but it wasn't bait and switch. At least you've learned now to check the work order BEFORE the work gets done.

Bait and Switch is not always about the price. If they offer to sell you a service at a certain price, and sell you an inferior service at the same price, it is also bait and switch. It's all about the offered "value" vs. the provided "value"

This seems normal for DSL. You could live in area provisioned for 1.5/512, but depending on your distance to the CO you could only be getting 1.3/256 at max.

Without hearing a recording of the phone call (to hear what was actually said) my doubts remain.

The only thing I can take from this thread is that LS8 is a whiny fucking loser.

If you don't like the service you are getting. CANCEL THE FUCKING SERVICE, and go with someone else.

I echo what everyone else has said here, ordering internet is not like ordering television. If you order from channels 2-58 they will provide it. However, internet is contingent on several things, that they may not necessarily have control over.. such as internal wiring of your house, the wiring of your telephone line provider etc etc etc.

They cannot guarantee anything.
