Front USB Question

I just recently got a Compucase LX-6A19 case and a Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 Pro motherboard. The case comes with 2 front USB ports. The wire that comes from the front USB ports has a 5x2 rectangular header with one pin blocked in the corner. It also has 7 separate wires that come off of the same cable with a little sticker that tells what each of the 7 wires is. There is a yellow 5x2 USB connector on the motherboard with one pin missing in the corner. It looks like I could just plug the rectangular header from the case into this connector on the motherboard. But is it that simple? Why are there also the 7 separate wires that split off from the header? Do I need to do anything with those?

Some MB's(ASUS etc) have different pinouts, best to check the MB's manual. Some are

p-+gkey
p-+g

others are

p-+gkey
g+-p

editing on this site SUCKS!

I had to do this today also but with a different combination...
I have a MSI mobo that has a header 5x2 with the bottom left pin missing
According to my manual plug the 1x1's on the spots 1 and 2. In spots 3,5,7 you want to put the 3x1 cable the has either a number 0 or 1 on it, it should say USB0(or USB1) 5V or something close, then USB0 5V then Ground(insert it that way). For pins 4,6,8 do the same thing except with the cable that says USB1(or USB2). I left the last pin empty and it works fine for me, hope this helps
