Front USB Ports

please be more specific

Right now, 2.0 doesn't really matter as most digicams/mp3 players dont support them. Some portable harddrives support 2.0.

Antec/chenming/chieftech cases do not have front usb ports on them. Some Lian li and coolermasters do. You can add usb ports in your 5 1/2 bay by putting in a kingwin multifunction panel right here

That looks like a pretty cool front panel. You have one fatbaby? Or anyone else? I would guess that the front USB's are still 1.1.

I wish i had a need for one and the money for one. =|

The new ones do!

And it doesn't matter if 1.1 or 2.0. USB 2.0 pinout is the same as the old flavor so it'll be whatever your mobo supports.

If you dont have front usb ports already, I would go witht he antec EZusb. Its about $10 at frys, matches the antec beige perfectly, and looks really clean (if you dont need the other ports). Also it has a nice 3.5 grill that perfectly fits a 4inch cold cathode light. Looks awesome.

The Nikao MT-2000 and MT-3000 cases have USB ports on the front.

Since front ports (USB, headphone, etc.) are usually just attached by extension cables to the ports on the back of the case (sometimes the mobo jumpers), it is simply a matter of plugging in the extension USB cable to your USB2 ports in the back to make the front ports USB2. They're shaped the same as USB1 ports.

My mobo came with a front plate with two usb's and a smartcard(yeah, i got the dragon)...no use for the smartcard reader, i still dont' even know what one is, time to do a little research i geuss.... but it plugs into my mobo, and i don't even know what that supports, actually, i dont' own any USB devices except my mouse, but i run that through an adapter to my PS2....

Thanks for the replies. The Kingwin looks pretty handy. It brings the ports to the top of the case whereas most front USB ports included with a case are at the bottom. Also, it provides essentially the same interface as the Enermax 5190 case, but at a much lower cost (e.g. paired with a Lian Li).
