Front USB Ports won't work.

I have had this setup for awhile and I have had the front USB ports hooked onto the motherboard, but never used them. I just recently tried to use them and found out they don't work. So I hooked them into the second set on the mobo, didn't work. So I decided maybe it's the case so took the motherboard out tried it in my brothers Antec 900 case just to find out again, won't work. Has anyone else had this problem? If so do you know how to fix it?

I have the same problem with my TJ06...They've never worked either...I'm also interested if anyone found a fix...I never got around to asking this question...

My monitor has 4 usb ports on it so it's not that big of a deal, but I'd just like to use it every now and then it makes hooking up the girlfriends iPod a bit easier.

I've checked both the manuals for the Case and the Mobo, they're right trust me it just won't work it doesn't work on my bros antec900 either so I'm wondering if my board is just bad.

I wonder the same thing...I'm swapping out my mb in a week or 2, so I'll post back & let you know if I got mine to work...Would be nice if they did since they're in such a convenient location...

Well, if this is a matter of having the convenience of connecting to a USB port without having to reach to the back of the computer, a simple, inexpensive solution is a USB extension cable. Just leave it plugged into a back port and you've basically added a front port.

Like I said, my monitor has 4 USB ports, it'd just be nice to actually have the ones on my case work too, it's shitty they don't.

The only times i've had them not work it was either a messud up connection or a bad mobo header port. Recheck by plugging the header into a different spot to verify it works and get one that you know that works to check the header on the mobo.

This may or may not be the case for you, but I read a post from a guy who discovered that if he used his front USB ports, then a couple of his rear USB ports were disabled and vice versa. Sorry can't direct you to the thread. I don't remember the mobo, but I believe the mobo was designed this way and it wasn't a defect. See if your mobo manual mentions that in the fine detail.

If you have an empty PCI slot, here's a solution. Get a USB PCI card and install it in a PCI slot. The key here is to get a card which has pin connectors for the front USB panels. Many such cards do not have that feature; they just add USB ports at the back of the computer, and maybe also have an internal port that a device such as an internal card reader could be connected.

So, here's a card that has the pin connectors for the front USB panels: Rosewill Low-Profile PCI to 2+1 USB2.0 Cards Model RC-100. I have one of these installed in a system with an ECS K7S5A PRO motherboard. This motherboard originally had only USB 1.1 on front, with USB 2.0 on back. By installing this card, I added two regular USB 2.0 ports on back and converted the two front ports to USB 2.0 by disconnecting the wiring from the pins on the motherboard and connecting them to the pins on the PCI card.
