I can't get my Pentium III 800EB processor to run at 133fsb. I think I've made everything that I should to troubleshot the problem:

I update the motherborad bios ( Asus CUSL2 ) version 1009
I clear CMOS
I change the memory
I tried all the bank memory
I put back the previous bios, clear CMOS again

and I still can't get the 800 mhz. The computer works at 600mhz ( 100 mhz fsb ) The strange is that, a few days ago , with the same motherboard and the same Ram modules it was running at 800 Mhz!!

All the motherboard settings are the same as when the system was running at 800 Mhz

Can anyone help me on this strange problem ?

Tanks

Set SDRAM Data Driving Mode to Strong. See if that helps.

By what exactly do you mean by "can't get it to run"? Won't complete a Windows load? POST? Unstable?

Hi,

tanks for the help. The computer does not POST at 133 FSB and works well at 100 FSB.

I thought PIII with an even speed were designed to be 100MHz FSB and odd speed were designed to be 133MHz FSB

example: PIII 700 => 100 FSB PIII 733 => 133 FSB

I disagree...the 800mhz can be attained with a 6 multiplier x 133 fsb....It is lisetd at pricewatch as coming both in 100mhz or 133mhz...

700 = 7 x 100
733 = 5.5 x 133

has nothing to do with odd numbers just multiplication....

Might be a Power Supply problem. A lot of systems will work fine at 100FSB and crash at 133FSB if they're not getting enough juice. Though I really don't know how your power supply would suddenly stop putting out enough power.. still, if anyone you know has a spare PSU that's pretty decent, you may want to check it out.

Power supplies can work initially and fail rather quickly...it has happened to plenty around these parts...

Definitely look at power as well as heat concerns...
