Front Panel Header hookup

My Silverstone case has the front panel headers 1) Power, 2) HD LED, 3) P LED, and 4) reset

All except for the P LED have one header that has an arrow with an "S" and another header with a G. Does the "G" mean ground?

Anyway, the P LED headers (+ and -) both have a "G" and respectively a "+" or "-"

So here is how I am dealing with these and I also have some questions below.

P LED:
Looking at the motherboard manual, the P LED is straightforward ("+" to pin 13 and "-" to pin 14. The headers have a "+" and a "-" on them respectively, so they plug into pins 13 and 14 accordingly. I guess it doesn't matter that both headers have a "G" on them.

Power:
The motherboard manual shows that pin 16 is ground. So does that mean that I plug the header with the "G" into pin 16 (and by default the header with the arrow plugs into pin 15)??

HDD LED:
The motherboard manual shows that "+" is pin 5 and "-" is pin 6. So which (arrow or "G") plugs into pin 5 and which plugs into pin 6? I need help with this one.

Reset:
The motherboard manual shows that the ground is plugged into pin 7 and the reset control is plugged into pin 8. Does the header with the "G" plug into pin 7 (and by default the header with the arrow plugs into pin 8)?

i'm not sure i can help with the particulars of your situation, dunno if i've seen those exact markings. but, i usually just make the best of the crude labels. you should remember that switches (reset and power) have no polarity- there isn't a ground, you just have to hit the right pins. diodes only work in forward polarity, but reversing them doesn't damage anything. if it doesn't work, just flip it over.

As much as I would like someone to confirm that my proposed P LED, power switch, and reset are correct, my main concern is the HDD LED. How do the headers with the "G" and the "arrow/S" match up to the "+" (pin 5) and "-" (pin 6)??

you're just asking which way you should flip the connector? most likely 'g' would coincide with the '-', but if the HDD LED doesn't blink you just need to flip it around. it won't hurt anything if it's backwards.

In general with dc voltage, "-" is indicates ground and is usually black or white.

Try it. If the led doesn't light when you think it should, just reverse it. It won't hurt anything.

It doesn't matter for power and reset since they're switches.

Everybody here has given you the right answers. Bottom line is don't worry, worst cas is it won't work until you reverse the leads. My guess is that the "S" is Source (+) and the "G" is Ground (-).

Thanks. I have never understood this part of the build. So I am trying to learn once and for all what everything means. On one of the Corsair online build tutorials, they indicated that the header with the arrow always goes with the lower numbered pin. However, that doesn't seem to always be the case (e.g., the reset header on my board; the header with the arrow goes into pin 8 rather than pin 7).
