my mom bought a front loader. It sucks at washing clothes:(
elaborate?

What is there to explain? My old washer (RIP) cleaned clothes better. At first, I thought it was because i put to much clothes in (it did not swish in water), so i cut the load in half and it still does not clean well. The washer is from Amana.

i would say Amana sucks then. my experience is the Whirlpool front loader cleans clothes better than my previous (dead) top loader.

Ditto, our whirlpool duet front load washer does tons better, uses less water, and is quieter than our 6 year old top load washer did and was.

My Amana is great. (shrug)

Amana is Maytag.

And Maytag is owned by Whirlpool.

I have a front loader and hate it. It's a pain to get the wet clothes out of. Lots of times they fall on the floor while switching to the dryer. I'll never buy one again.

Is yours one of the smaller 3.1cf models? My wife and I used one of those for about a year when we lived in an apartment and they sucked. The front was really small.

Not really sure on the size, it came with the house we bought. The worst part is it was installed with the washer on the right, so I have to navigate the wet clothes out of the washer, around the door and into the dryer. I think the floor in front of the washer is the cleanest piece of floor in our house.

Lot of times the doors are reversible like a fridge. See if there are screw holes on the other side of the opening and swap it around.

Front load washers remind me of old school RX-7s. You car guys know what i'm talking about.

And being that i don't buy washers for quarter mile times...that scares me.

Wow, how much do you pay for water? I paid $15 for the past quarter. The washer here was built in the 70's, before I was even born.

Let me know how you like the 90minute or longer cycle times on that front loader.

I bought a HE top load Fisher&Paykel and lovin it.

I've got a front loader and the typical time for the normal cycle is 47 minutes. It only goes up to 60 minutes when I add options like 'heavy soil'. The extra rinse cycle will add another 10 minutes or so.

47 isn't so bad. I'm at 30 or less depending on the options. The F&P has a fast spin like the front loaders so it cuts the drying time down a lot also. I researched quite a bit and to get a decent front loader you are looking at $1000. I got most of the benefits of a front loader for $600.

I never had a balance issue in 10years with my old Kenmore, no issues in the 8 months I have had the F&P.

I'm not bashing the front loaders and I don't want to sound like a F&P salesman. Just my opinion and the choice I made. I was pretty shocked at the different energy and water ratings on the new washer compared to the old one.

We have a F & P set also, it has been great.

They make these things called laundry baskets.

Place in front of washer
Put clothes in basket
Move in front of dryer and unload
