When I live in WI, I never put a front plate on my 300GT (the horror).
Got pull over twice for speeding, then the officer notice the front plate and gave me a warning on that.
Tell me to put it on and report to him. I never did and they seem to forget about it.
But having no plate in front (if required) can definately get you in trouble.

The ironic thing now is I live in AZ that does not use front plate and I'm driving an Accord :(

Oh, I'm sure that'll work if you get pulled over.

"But officer, I have it in my golve compartment!"

BTW: I saw some 8-ball screws specifically designed to cover up the holes at 99Cents market. :p Yeah, cheap but hey, they look okay.

Well in Wisconsin they send you 2 plates when you register your vehicle with the DMV so I guess the second plate is not sent for a backup

It'll be more like "Officer, it's a brand new car and I haven't gotten the bracket yet."

Leave the hole that way, you'll need it one day. I guarantee it.

@ all morons in front-plate states that bother taking them off. Maybe I mind them less than most because my front bumpers actually have a nice place molded for it to sit, and without one it would look SUPERGIMP!

Edit: Also, front plate on dashboard MAY work depending on visibility. It may also NOT work if the cop is under pressure.

Yea, putting the plate on the front dash will most of the time get you out of a ticket, it did for me. cop pulled me over and told me I needed to have a plate in the front, then I just pointed to my passenger side dash and he just kinda looked at it, looked back at me, and was like " well then, have a nice day" not sure cops are that cool all around, but...it has worked

Most pontiacs come with a cover that hides where the front license plate goes. Here in WI it's illegal to not have a front license plate but I'ven ever heard of anyoen ever getting pulled over for it. I don't have mine on and my car is 5+ years old and never had a problem.

I live in a non-front plate state, PA... I *had* front holes... but considering that I just had the whole front of my car rebuilt [long story] and I haven't seen the results yet, I may or may not have front holes now. They looked hand drilled last time, so I'm assuming I won't have any.

I've always liked the Jolly Roger plate for the front tho  I'll miss that... left it on the ramp.... Text

Take the bracket and smash it with a hammer. Put the plate and the pieces of the bracket (don't overdo it...) into your trunk. Say that you haven't had time to get a replacement.

I've heard that in CA there isn't a law saying that you must have a front license plate but it's either a city or county ordinance that requires it. mostly cities that use red light cameras. But I don't think most cops really look, I've been pulled over 3 times and they never said anything to me for not having one (my bracket broke off after I got in an accident) but then again I've have a friend who got a fix it tickets because his brand new VW didn't come with mounting and he never put the license on.
