Front Audio & Soundblaster Live 5.1

Having just changed to a case that has front headphone & microphone connectors I am left puzzling over the connectors. I have wried front audio before but that was using an onboard soundcard.

Does it connect to the motherboard the same as when using onboard sound or do you need to connect it all up to the soundblaster live card....if so?....how dooya do this?

Also, it has a single front firewire port....I am guessing you have to have a particular motherboard to do this?

Hey,

I believe when you hook up the Sounblaster, you'd have to disable the onboard sound on the motherboard, so connecting the front audio to the onboard pins on the motherboard, I don't think would work. On the card may have an addition line in internally where you could wire it up, but don't know much about that. sorry

Do you know where you got the cable to hook up the front audio to the motherboard, I've been searching for this cable everywhere.
I am stumped and have come to the conclusion that the cable doesn't exist until I read this thread. 🙂

Have a nice day!

The cable came built into the case itself, it's attached to the front audio connectors on the front, much like the hard drive and power LED's or the Speaker connectors. Does your case have front audio ports?

Other people have said the same thing about the front audio but I haven't had a chance to check out the connectors on the SB Live since so I will do this weekend I think.....bit stupid really....only people who can use front audio ports are those using the basic onboard sound!
