Front audio connector going crazy

I plugged my microphone into my front audio connector and usually it's fine. But occasionally I get barraged with messages from Realtek Audio Manager saying I just unplugged something and would I tell the program what it was. So eventually I got sick of this happening during games and I obliged them and unplugged it. Anyone have this happen and know what it was?

Thanks.

Not sure what it is. Heck i'm not even sure how the sound card is identifying that an item has been unplugged. Its not like the card has to identify an item that is plugged in in order to use it.

You may want to try updating the drivers.

I think I know what it is, my zalman mic connector isn't quite long enough to seat in the jack correctly. Not sure why the jacks in my case are either too large or the mic connector is too short.

That´s cr@#p advice corkyg.
It was mentioned the ´jack´ is too short (not the cable).
I had that happen aswel & I returned the mobo since the input could not connect to the 3 parts of the headphone (Line out) plug and this would be considered a fault. Now everything is fine!

Don´t try to get it fixed yourself by making a ´custom´ plug, you might damage your equipment & the warranty will be void.

It´s all made in China now / worse than Taiwan.......

Try plugging it into the rear mic. port. This was made by a different company than the port on the front of the case and may have different dimensions.

mpilchfamily,

<FYI> That is a common service offered my many many sound drivers. It tells you what it thinks has been plugged in, and you confirm or modify it (different speaker setup, headset/mic combo vs free standing mic., etc.) and then it can make changes accordingly.
