From Tower 2 SFF - SB95p power supply hum - how do i tame this?

How do I tame this noisy power supply please?

So I finally ditched my month old p5ad2 premium, lian li pc 75B powerstream 520 ps setup for a sb95p. Im delighted with the move to SFF and this is the way i will go from now on. But I have just one gripe and its a major one, so any help is appreciated.

The shuttle sb95p which comes with a 350W supposedly silent X power supply. The noise this thing is making is really distracting. It sounds like a hum but it comes in waves from a low hum to a high hum repeated every 3 seconds. UGH its sooooooo annoying! If it was a constant hum I probably wouldnt mind. But its the up and down of it thats really irritating and Id love to do something about it.

Now its getting to the point where I'd really like to do something about this - as its very distracting. When I plug in my external USB hard drive which has its own power supply, the noise is deafening. All I can think of is that the external hd is somehow acting as an amplifier for the shuttle power supply.

When I disconnect all the USB devices from the back of the pc - it makes no difference to the Humming.

2 x sata 250 maxtor HD's in raid 0
p4 3.4Ghz
x800 xt radeon g/x card
1 gb crucial ballixstix 2 x 512 ddr2

Any ideas?

thanks

it is most likely "humming" due to the fact that it is at its absolute limits because of the current draw that your POS room heater...........errr CPU is drawing

what are your temps like ???, a good SFF does NOT include anything intel unless it is a "C"

I'm not sure about the new shuttle 350w ps, but my 250 in a SB75S with a 3 gig prescott makes almost no noise at all. I have a sata hitachi hd, sony 710 DVD burner, 1 gig of pdp memory and fx5900xt. Loudest thing is the video card. I would think the loudest thing in your system should be the same, that X800 xt. I think you may have a bad power supply...
