Poland Elections

Ex-Communists Ousted in Poland Elections

While it seems Poland's government likes to swing back and forth, this can only be a good sign for their future.
I'd be curious to know how much the Iraq war pull-out played into the vote. I wonder if their exit polls captured that information.

I doubt that the Poles were all that concerned about Dick and Dubya's excellent adventure. It sounds like they're more concerned with government corruption and the unemployment rate/economy, as they should be.

"No government since then has been re-elected, and power has swung between reformed communists and parties rooted in the anti-communist Solidarity movement."

I dunno, the ex-commies seem to have done a fairly good job. Getting into the EU and stuff. The jobless rate is to be expected i believe, if you've been to poland you'd know many people live off their own crops.

Ofcourse this assumes one thinks that joining the EU is a good thing. BTW, I did not the back and forth swing of their government.

Ofcourse it is, getting acces to low taxed, if any tax at all, border deals, allowing workers to move freely among countries like you move among states. And these countries being significantly richer than Poland. Id you can't realize this is a good deal you're daffed.

When i was in poland, we bought some sausages for me to fry. And i swear, i had to pour off fat from the frying-pan 2 times, they were like half the size, if not smaller when they finally reached the table. It was friggin gross.

Hehe, my dad(who was from Hungary) used to love fat! A good pot of chicken paprikas had a nice thick layer of fat on top, bread soaked in a frying pan after frying meat was a tasty treat. I ate all that as a kid, but once I left home I'd spend 10-15 minutes spooning fat off my paprikas(still love the stuff even though it was a staple growing up).

Still on the subject of food, I had great experiences there. Excellent food everywhere. Fat food, lean people. Go figure.

I'll come back when the subject switches to women.

Why was the rest of Europe not allowing free trade? Seems to me that people should push for Free trade, not have to join a little club.

Yeah, that is what made me so bitter about the world. Nothing is sacred! Lived my whole life to enjoy real Polish sausage and then.........! Devastating!

Free trade among its members is one of the oldest goals of this club ;) Plus they will recieve subventions to some extent to strengthen their econcomy.

The EU seems to be a good thing for most Europeans, Blair and Jr. hate it though, so if you're a dittohead you're supposed to hate it too, ask Rush why.

I doubt that pulling Sergeyev and Feliks out of Iraq had much to do with the election results
