Prosecutors said Chevalier stabbed another Elgin Junior High School student four times on a school bus.
At 7:47 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, a 911 call was received at The Marion County sheriffs office, reporting a stabbing on a school bus at Elgin Junior High School.
Chevalier stabbed the 14-year-old boy as students were exiting the bus.
The bus had arrived at the school in the parking lot, and they began unloading when both students stood up, and the young boy turned around and was facing the girl when she just started stabbing him, Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey said.
Bailey said the two students were not friends.
School administrator boarded the bus and took the 3-1/2-inch folding Buck knife from the girl.
Bailey said she took the knife to school from her home.
The victim was taken to Marion General Hospital and then flown to Nationwide Childrens Hospital. The boy suffered multiple stab wounds to the upper body. He survived the life-threatening attack.
A jury returned guilty verdicts on the three charges against her. Two were second-degree counts of felonious assault; the third was a count of attempted murder.
Chevalier was remanded into custody and was transported to Edward J. Ruzzo Juvenile Detention Center Wednesday.
Sentencing was not scheduled.
