9-28-2004Crawford Newspaper Endorses Kerry

CRAWFORD, Texas - A tiny weekly newspaper that bills itself as President Bush's hometown paper has endorsed John Kerry for president, saying the Massachusetts senator will restore American dignity.

"Four items trouble us the most about the Bush administration:

his initiatives to disable the Social Security system,

the deteriorating state of the American economy,

a dangerous shift away from the basic freedoms established by our founding fathers,

and his continuous mistakes regarding Iraq," the editorial said.

The Iconoclast, established in 2000, said it editorialized in support of the invasion of Iraq and publisher W. Leon Smith promoted Bush and the invasion in a BBC interview, believing Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction.

"Instead we were duped into following yet another privileged agenda," the editorial said.

And in other news, nothing happened.

What's your point?

I think his point is that there are still some Texans in Crawford who have common sense and dignity.

So they're voting for Badnarik? Sweet! 😉

LOL. Like their votes even matter in Texas. Don't get me started on the EC again 😉

Either your sense of humor or your reading comprehension sucks here.

But I'm keeping an open mind.

It could be both!

People with common sense and dignity certainly wouldn't vote for a Republicrat, I was just assuming they'd vote for a decent candidate.

Better check your sense of humor, skippy.

Not to mention, I didn't realize that the newspaper of a podunk town spoke for it's entire population.
I thought all Podunkians spoke in unison!

Why not, Neocons in here think they speak for the entire Nation.

I suppose. For all I know the newspaper editors could BE the town.

Kerry should feel proud to have those 3 votes.

His post are 98% in P/N, I'd say he read the same recruiting post at some right wing website that the rest of the recent right wing noobies read. Why even reply and feed the trolls.

That if Bush can't even convince his hometown, then he might be in trouble?

That $2/gallon gas may be good for some Texans, but not all?

That SmallTown, USA is sick and tired of the anemic economy?

That individual freedoms are what make this country great and should be preserved?

That people don't appreciate being duped into war under false pretenses?

That SmallTown, USA would rather vote for a real hero instead of a wannbe hero who sends others to do his dirty work?

Take your pick troll. 😀

Gore couldn't win his home state and yet won the popular vote and was 4 short of the electoral vote. I doubt Bush is in any trouble.

Wonder who he used to be.

Strangely enough, the owner of the paper usually tells the editor who to endorse, in the case of this paper, it's prob one in the same.

BTW, the folks in Crawford pretty much love GWB, I've been there. We're a one party state.

Was listening to a reporter today that said Texas Democrats are to the right of many Republicans.
