I tried to install a new Samsung SATA DVD-RW in my granddaughter's old A8N-SLI Deluxe machine yesterday as the old IDE unit finally gave up the ghost. Well, apparently, the nForce4 drivers need to be updated so that the SATA drive will work. XP sees the new Samsung as a DVD-RAM drive, but everything freezes up when a disk is inserted! :disgust:

It's been too many months and years....... how does one go about updating those drivers? I found the new drivers here...but I need some help figuring out how to go about getting them where they need to go.

Thanks in advance.

Just run the .exe.

And sata drivers are native to XP from sp1 on, so you might have to install sp1, sp2 or even better sp3.

Thanks, the system already has sp3.

On the NVIDEA site it said "Uninstall any existing nForce networking drivers prior to installing this package"

How does one do that?
