From Intel to AMD

I hope to be upgrading my system sometime this year, if I can talk the "boss" into letting me. AMD now has the best "bang for the buck" with the 1.2 GHz CPU at less than $250.00, so its time to switch from Intel to AMD.

This is my current system:

Intel Celeron 533A @ 800
Abit BX6 Rev. 2
128 MB PC-100 RAM (Micron)
Creative Labs Annihilator Pro*
Addtronics 6890A full tower case w/ 300 watt power supply*
IBM 10.1GB 5400 RPM hard drive*
Diamond MX-300 soundcard*
TEAC Floppy*
Toshiba 40X CD-ROM*
Windows 98 upgraded to SE*
Viewsonic G790 monitor*
Kingston Ethernet card*
Speedstream 5260 external DSL modem*

What I'd like to do is buy the following components:

AMD 1.2 GHz Thunderbird (266 MHz)CPU
Good heatsink and fan (not sure which one yet.)
Abit KT7A motherboard
256 MB Micron PC-133 RAM
IBM 30 GB 7200 RPM hard drive

and re-use the componets in my existing system marked with an *.

Does anyone see a problem with me re-using some of my existing components? The Addtronics case and power supply are supposed to be ok for AMD systems. The new PC will be used mainly for gaming (Quake 3 Arena, Team Arena, maybe Tribes 2) and web surfing.

Also, can someone recommend a good site where I can learn about AMD systems. I have AMD Zone bookmarked, but was wondering if there are any more.

Thanks

MAC

Everything that you have marked should work well with an AMD system. You could even use the RAM if you didn't want to upgrade. I'm not sure of any conflicts with anything listed.
