So this guy has like 9 kids from 9 different women. Is suspended three times from the NFL for positive drug tests. And is now caught with 6 pounds of weed and 3 kilo's of cocaine on him.

I'm guessing this disciplinary action is going to be a little worse than what the NFL imposed on him. Hello FPMITAP!

😱

I don't understand how people who have everything they could possibly want, fuck it up so bad. NFL star, lots of money, lots of talent... gets any girl he wants, can buy anything he wants, can retire as early in his career as he wants.... what a waste of really fortunate circumstances.

You could say the "human condition," but that's not good enough for people. The enemy of success is itself.

I don't know the nature of his contract, but a lot of NFL players really don't make shit, you are probably basing your opinions on the highly publicized contracts of QBs, a lot of these guys are expected by their friends, family and peers to live some sort of crazy lifestyle, and with that life style comes high expenses.

If a 5 year, 22.5 million dollar contract is getting paid shit, then my salary must be something akin to anal vapor.

Travis Henry was a starter and it wasn't like he was being paid some off the street pick up contract. The only issue I see is irresponsibility of the players. Some of them are still boys, spoiled from the get go and lavished with all the amenities of a celebrity. They'll do crazy and stupid shit.

The base salary is 275K\year which puts them in the top 5% of wage earners. That is somebody who makes the team and will probably barely play special teams. Most players make much more than that. Even guys who arent starters and probably wont see much game time.

I cant imagine a true starter with any kind of potential making less than 1mil a year. There was a long snapper for the bills a couple of years ago who was 42. Oldest guy in the league I believe. All he did was snap the ball for the punter. He made 1.5 million a year.

Don't take this wrong, but I don't think you understand how much NFL players make.

The minimum salary structure for 2007 is as follows:
Rookies and first-year players $285,000
Second-year players $360,000
Third-year $435,000
Fourth-year $510,000
Fifth- through seventh-year $595,000
Eighth- through tenth-year $720,000
Eleventh-year and longer $820,000

I don't know about you, but even the absolute minimum 285,000 is considered filthy rich. I make 35,000 a year and I have to pay for college while I'm at it, so its even less. I am just fine, I actually feel like I'm well off.

If you make 285k a year (and Henry made a HELL of a lot more than that) then you are rich in my book. Very very well off. You don't have money problems, PERIOD. You can live a pretty lavish lifestyle making that kind of money.

I wonder if these guys have enough self inflection to wake up one morning in prison and think to themselves "How did I manage to fuck this thing up?". Or do they run through life one action to the next never once thinking about the mistakes they made?

The Bungles will pick him up after he has done his time.

Him and Chris Henry would have a combined arrest record longer than most NFL teams.

All I'm saying is that when you're a football player people expect you to play big, spend big, I guess most of you guys have no idea what economies of scale are, especially in relation to his peers.

We understand what economy of scale is. We also understand what being financially responsible with your money means as well. I wouldn't give a crap about what others "expect" of me...

You're not a celebrity, you're also not the only person in your family that's famous, etc etc etc.

Every 'average' american seems to have a giant chip off the block about people that have more money than them, can't really seem to understand that with 'mo money, mo problems'.

Chances are this guy was never taught any money management, because his parents probably didn't have ANY, his friends were all probably busy telling him to spend it because they had none.

I'm sure you 'wouldn't give a crap' the fact is, you have no ability to level with these guys, that's why the NBA is making players take financial management courses now.

Now please, stfu.
