Upgraded a friend and his wife from an XP 2000 on a KT333 chipset to an X2 5000 on a 770 chipset.

Had a little problem with the DDR2 dimms aligning correctly in the socket, which caused the system not to post or give BIOS beeps. Fixed that and installed Win XP.

I left while Win XP was doing the updates, so I don't know if they've a chance to "test drive" the system.

even just web surfing will be easier. I have an e6750 @ 3.4 at home, an opteron 180 @ 2.4 at home, and an Athlon xp 2200 here at work. The work computer absolutely sucks, even for simple web surfing and minor multi-tasking.

My socket 939 3800+ is still going strong, although it's motherboard is not... For day to day tasks, it is still fantastic. Only reason I'd want to upgrade is for gaming.

what is that, 2.4 ghz with 512mb L2? that is still very good for day to day operations. in most scenarios you won't even miss having more cores, either.
