From an OC perspective, is it worth the $25 to get the XP1900+ over the XP1800+ ?

As far as overclockability, does the 1900+ have any more potential than the 1800+? Any experience out there? (I am limited to very good air cooling- no water or phase change). Also considering the Asus A7V333-RAID motherboard for this CPU with PC-3000 or PC-3200 RAM.

Are you planning on unlocking it and changing multiplier? If you plan to strictly FSB overclock then I would go with the 1900. If you want to change the multiplier than go with the 1800 because you can only go up one more multiplier setting on the 1900 without having to connect the L10 bridge.

I have to say, if you`re gonna spend a wad of cash on PC3000 or PC3200 RAM, then you may as well spend the extra 25 bones and get the 1900+.

Actually if I were you, I'd get a nice P4 1.8A to go with that RAM since you're obviously going to be overclocking this bad boy 😉

Lol! The waiting game, you play that game you'll be waiting your whole life. I'm in the same boat, deciding on the 1800 or 1900. General rule of thumbs always holds true, buy as much as you can afford.

(i'm going w/1900 btw)

I guess it depends on whether you're overclocking to save money, or overclocking to have the fastest system possible. Personally, I only o/c to save money, so personally I'd go with the 1800+. Actually, I'm building a system too, and I'm going with the 1600+ to offset the cost of having a more expensive motherboard than an ECS one. I'm still trying to fit into the "best bang for the buck" range in terms of pricing.

I agree with what has been said. If you overclock go with the 1800+, but if you
don't overclock just go with the 1900+. I myself, have the 1800+ unlocked to
1.64Ghz. However, I am looking to get more speed. I can probably hit 1.7Ghz,
however, I would have to do a little tweaking. For the mone, 1800+ OCed!
You might even be able to unlock an 1600+ an get 1900+ speed!

You can go to 2000+ without changing the L10s. If I were you - I'd buy and unlock the 1800+ then run as a 2000+. Should be no sweat at all for current steppings. If you're not into o/c-ing - then just go for the best price point. For me that's still the 1800+.

If you want to go all-out - then mod the L10s when you're done with the L1 unlocking. Current steppings (AGOGA and above) should do 2100+ speeds. My 1800+ (AGKGA) does 1.67Ghz on good air cooling, so newer steppings should have even less problem reaching that and higher speeds.
