From 8800GTX SLI to 9800 GX2?

I currently run x 8800GTX in SLI on my 680i mobo. Although I like my mobo, it does have its quirks. I recently had the offer to sell my 2 8800 GTX for just under 600$ and I can get a new 9800 GX2 for just over $300.

I have an intel p35 mobo that is so stable it's stupid. The asus P5ke WIFI is just amazing for the fact I paid $120 and it runs my Q6600 G0 soooo very well. My question would be should I dump the 2 8800 GTX cards and finally move over my main rig to the Intel p35 with a new 9800 GX2? Obviously the p35 does not support the nVidia SLI... hence the single card solution so I don't DOWNGRADE to something. Would folks consider this a good deal? Considering i would be pocketing $300. Or forget about the Gx2 and get a 4870? or 2 of them?

I have to admit that my 8800 GTX cards run VERY quiet and VERY cool. I have never had a crash related to them (not that I can tell) and the few issues have been in relation to my mobo and RAM or oc'ing (it simply does not like quad cores that much).

What say you all?

Yes it will be worth it because of the money you will be making $$ as well.

Whoever it buying those from you must not keep up with the times. You can get 2X GTX260s for under that price, and they will smoke 2 8800GTXs.

Jebus I want that e8600 you have Ocguy31.. WOW.. 4.3 and using a tunic too (got 2 of those).

Yah why not.. just hope it's as quiet and reliable. I am selling the 2 8800gtx's, one to a friend (who I told he can get just as good and newer looking for something else) but he insists on the 8800 GTX saying it's what he always wanted and says at certain places still priced at over $500. The other is sold on a local computer forum. I placed it at $300 and I had 21 emails with 4 willing to buy it outright with no discussion on price. My guess is they have another 8800 and wont to go SLI rather than dumping selling and have to deal with dinks etc, and then buying something new.

Cool.

Maybe some Prime Swampland in Florida?

I can't imagine someone saying...I always wanted an 8800GTX, so I will ignore the fact that I can buy a faster card for less money.

Sell it now man.

If you are going to use the 680i board, get 2x GTX 260. If you're gonna use the P35 board, get a 4870 (depending on when you sell and are ready to buy....get the 1GB if you can). At least you can always CrossFire later.
