I currently run x 8800GTX in SLI on my 680i mobo. Although I like my mobo, it does have its quirks. I recently had the offer to sell my 2 8800 GTX for just under 600$ and I can get a new 9800 GX2 for just over $300.
I have an intel p35 mobo that is so stable it's stupid. The asus P5ke WIFI is just amazing for the fact I paid $120 and it runs my Q6600 G0 soooo very well. My question would be should I dump the 2 8800 GTX cards and finally move over my main rig to the Intel p35 with a new 9800 GX2? Obviously the p35 does not support the nVidia SLI... hence the single card solution so I don't DOWNGRADE to something. Would folks consider this a good deal? Considering i would be pocketing $300. Or forget about the Gx2 and get a 4870? or 2 of them?
I have to admit that my 8800 GTX cards run VERY quiet and VERY cool. I have never had a crash related to them (not that I can tell) and the few issues have been in relation to my mobo and RAM or oc'ing (it simply does not like quad cores that much).
What say you all?
