Frogs and Obama as an indicator species.

As scientists use frogs and their precipitous decline as a measure of environmental damage
that will certainly end up hurting the human race as well, I as a disappointed democrat nominate Obama as the new frog indicator species.

Seems Obama is rather disappointing in the BP oil spill response, and even goes on to express some counterproductive outrage.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100603/ap_on_bi_ge/us_obama_gulf_oil_spill

Well God damn it Obama, why did you not hit the damn ground running, and make sure you got the needed oil company regulations back in place that GWB dismantled??????????????

Instead you appointed some oil company stooge who did nothing but do nothing. And then you have the unmitigated gall to be amazed that your inaction blew up in your face. Well Duh, what do you expect Obama when you failed to hit the ground running.

You promised a rural broadband inactive, and then your FCC studied the problem for a year
and still has done nothing productive. After that the list just goes on.

And then Obama is as naive as a barrel of Jimmy Carters in assuming that the Republirats would sing your praises. Which means it takes you forever to get a damn thing done because you are too wimpy to aggressively do the job you were elected to do. Or to strongly advocate the agenda you were elected to accomplish. Are you a man or a mouse?

But strong disclaimer, I never, in so posting this rant, even in the midst of pessimism that almost overwhelms me, that the GOP would ever be anything other than a far worse alternative than the worst of Obama.

So here we all as human beings, amerced in the fluid that is mother earth, we are smarter than frogs, but as our very innards boil, we are smart enough to feel the pain but there is very little we can do about it.

In GWB we got a strong super stupid leader, in Obama we have a smarter ineffective leader, and right now we the American people are screwed for the foreseeable future.

And to head all you Paul bots off before you go off on a tear, Libertarians are even more clueless than the GOP.

We need a man like give em hell Harry Truman again.

Meanwhile, the Libertarian party is bitching about such lofty issues as *gasp* the CENSUS!!! Seriously while healthcare reform was going on, that was on lp.org's front page.

I'm all for Libertarians and the Libertarian party in general, but the only libertarian system that has a chance of functioning is a moderate one. Most Libertarian politicians are too radical or have their heads too far up their asses. Often both. Until they wise up, I'll take my odds with the elephant and donkey learning how to dispose of each others' shit.

The only time I saw Ofroga jump into action as if a crisis was brewing was when the Honduran military desposed their dictator wannabe prez. Ofroga was all over that pronto. He jumped into the arrested Harvard prof issue too. Guess a eco disaster doesn't rate as high as a deposed nascent dictator.

In in the midst of complete depression, i gotta say irish Scott done tickled my funny bone with, "Until they wise up, I'll take my odds with the elephant and donkey learning how to dispose of each others' shit. "

Yes yes I can see it all in the conversation between the Donkey and the Elephant. As the Donkey says your elephant shit tastes like shit, but I have tasted worse. And the Elephant says the same thing about Donkey shit.

Thereafter the elephant and the donkey will gorge themselves full of beans to see if they can somehow both become full of uneatable shit.

Current US politics in a nutshell. You nailed it irishScott. A dung beatles version of a hole in one.

But still as a dimocrat, I still advocate that Obama should sneak behind the elephant, speak softly, and simply take a big cork and a big stick, and plug the elephant ass hole.

Your recent railing against libertarians is funny. Democrats are doing everything they can to keep the focus off of themselves. Despite having the executive and legislative branches, all they can talk about is other parties. Republicans are doing this, Palin is doing that, Right Wing Radio Conspiracy is keeping us down. Now they're even attacking a party which, regardless of their ideology, doesn't have any significant clout at the federal level. What's next? Going after the Constitution Party? The Green Party?

Why you ask?

Because they're worried that the American people are going to realize that not only is Obama an empty suit, but they are the Empty Suit Party. Despite all of their criticism of everyone else, they have nothing to offer. They're blowhards who at their very best, are only just as bad as anything else. So the spin will continue, Democrats will keep whining about everything that everybody else is doing. Eventually they'll run out of people to blame and the Americans will vote you losers out after realizing what losers you truly are. So keep railing on libertarians as if they're the problem right now. It amuses me. It's a reminder of what a loser you are.

If Obama is trying this hard to put Republicans in power (first the hands off approach to the oil spill, now the illogical attacks on Arizona) why should I vote for him again? I'm about ready to give up.

The future consequences to this current predicament are inevitable.

We will severely decline as a nation. To what end I have no idea, for there is no limit in our potential to hurt ourselves. We may be a great nation, but great nations fall from within. We get to watch it happen live.

Well, Hell has certainly frozen over because Lemon is bashing the Messiah and I'm about to defend him. First, this accident had nothing to do with "needed oil company regulations" that GWB dismantled; that's just stupid. Certainly it has something to do with the federal government's substitution of clerical work for actual substantial oversight, and if Congress had required more stringent safety measures (which hopefully they will now do, in addition to requiring true oversight) we would have a much better chance of this being a relatively small event. But no president can be intimately familiar with every part of government that might prevent an unknown catastrophe, and no president has a magic wand to wave and get his way.

Second, if Obama had instituted the kind of government control over every possible source of disaster, our whole economy would shut down and we'd make Greece look like South Korea. Just as he who guards everything guards nothing, he who insures against every calamity insures no progress.

Third, Obama's response has admittedly been pathetic, but in reality there isn't much he can do. The practical difference between an ideal government response and Obama's government response is probably, in the end, not very big at all.

I would like to think that if Obama is another Carter (one-termer) then it's because the populace has rejected his vision to "fundamentally transform" America in accordance with his Marxist views of wealth seizure and redistribution. But I can admit that if he is a one-term wonder then it's probably because we as a nation have a simplistic and woefully unrealistic image of the President as our mega daddy figure who has magical powers and can always make things better.
