All of these task middlemen like taskr and taskrabbt and fiverr and rentacoder seem to be creating a class of serfs working for virtual landowners. So nothings changed, its just now on a world scale.

I like to support my local economy so always pickup local hookers. Stay away from the hooker companies as they sometimes abuse their workers, go with the freelancer ones.

Seriously though I think everybody needs to start doing their part and trying to shop as local as possible. If you don't shop in your own city at least try to shop in your own province, or at very least country. Globalization is going to put all of us on the street, or at very least lower our quality of life by reducing the amount of decent paying jobs. It's already becoming harder now for people to own a house and property, and it's only going to get worse. As costs of everything keep going up, the number of good paying jobs is going down. The whole utopian idea that we can automate our world so we don't have to work is a farce, because the ones who automate it are the ones who keep all the money, we still have to pay for everything and need a job in order to do that. And no those jobs don't just get replaced by new jobs. Ex: if a store puts in self checkouts, they only really need 1 guy to maintain them, and chances are that guy also does all the other stores in the region.

These places like china can offer services for super cheap because they don't really care about their quality of life and they'll take even tiny amounts of money, because they are like 20 people living in an apartment that is smaller than your typical home laundry room. We don't want to have to compete with that because the only way to do it is to lower our quality of life to that point. Really the people in China need to rise and demand more instead of being happy with ridiculous pays. For example the foxconn workers making electronics for us are getting paid a couple dollars per day while the corporations here are making billions. Those guys need to be given an actual living wage. But greed always comes before compassion, it's the whole idea behind capitalism.

Not everyone is a cheapskate and some things should not be skimped on. Spend at least $7 on your hookers, you'll be glad you did.

Cheap hookers are a false economy anyway. The money you save on the discount hooker gets spent doubling up on rubbers. Add in the appearance hit you take with the discounts, they're probably more expensive. If you end up having to go the doctor, you've blown your monthly hooker budget out of the water.

Hooker mills are run much like puppy mills. Lot's of inbreeding and unsanitary lifestyles.

Maybe you missed your calling in life. See if you can sell your services as an ad man to those $7 hookers and both you and they could make a fortune. You can be the Don Draper of Hookers and Blow.

I am probably the only one of you gaggle of geeks here who was actually offered a $5 blowjob by a hooker prominently missing a few teeth, in broad daylight. She yelled her offer from 20 feet away, and lifted up her braless top for emphasis.

I declined. Being a P.I in Philly was a trip. But that's not important now.

Back in the very early part of the century when this happened, the going low-ball rate was $10. Competition! It's the backbone of a smoothly functioning capitalist economy! Adam Smith's invisible handjob. Night and even day, right on Broad St and many other places, hookers abounded. They were not life's big winners.

Bah... we all know that these discount hookers are bait and switch anyway. Sure, they say $7 so you let them into the car, but then price always spikes up to $20 once you tell them the freaky stuff that you're into.

;)

I was offered anal sex for $1 by a lady in a burka in broad daylight....at least I think it was a lady. Oh those were the days.

I use upwork. Got a job going now for some database/Angular work. I must be setting my prices too high though cause I'd be embarrassed at $5 jobs. Though even if I set a somewhat simple job at $150/200 people from other countries indeed bid that down and I don't know why.
