A car.
Not a truck.

Things like performance and comfort are important so don't recommend a pickup or an SUV 🙂

He will need to get the car in May 2002, which is just before a lot of cool cars will be coming out (the 350z, rx-8, etc).

I've suggested such cars as the a4, 330i, is300, TL Type S, etc...

What else is out there?
The WRX seems awesome, but I'm not sure I can convince him to get such an... odd looking car.

What do you guys think?

Impreza STi, Lexus IS 300. Maybe he can get the '99 version of the Impreza, that's the best looking Impreza. The new ones with the round-lights suck @ss

The WRX looks "odd"? Have you seen the Toyota Echo? :Q What about the Ass-tek? THOSE look "odd".

Get the WRX. Kickass car.

Since you're from brooklyn i'd recommend that your friend get the A4 1.8t w/quattro - probably UNDER 35K. Good balance of comfort and sportiness.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII. (if Mitsu gets off their arse and releases it here already!)

If not, then I would recommend a Acura CL Type-S, or a Lexus GS300.

The g35 doesn't look too bad, and if its anything like a Skyline, it should be amazing.

One caveat... he needs an automatic tranny... sucks performance, fuel economy, adds cost i know, but we live in nyc and he doesn't want to be bothered.

Hehe, the echo and aztek don't look odd. Theyre fugly. The WRX is different.

I'll have him drive the WRX. Its different than the other cars he's looking at, its like a category unto itself (along with the Lancer if it comes out in time).

Beast1284 - I dont think the 350z will be out by May.

and fast - it looks like the Nissan fans are rec'ing the g35 rather than the Maxima.

Base pricing ranges from $27,100-$28,950. The G35 will be available in mid-March 2002. Surprisingly inexpensive.

btw, someone doesnt save up $35k to buy a used car and put the rest in the bank... if they wanted to save money they would be putting the cash in a savings account and not touch it... obviously this isnt what this guy wants... must of the time people go OVER what they want to spend, not under...

<< i like the infinity g35. but if you want something more sporty.. id go with the lexus is300 >>

IS300 more sporty? Please.
G35 has suspension and engine from the Z350 zx. It has more HP than IS300 and an advanced multilink lightweight suspension.

Any reports on the final HP count of the g35 will be? I've heard anywhere from 260-300.

Also cool that the g35 isn't that small... my friend is 6'3" so space is good.

IS300, look at the recent article in Car & Driver about the longevity of the this car. It has an incredible balance between luxury and sport.

my mom has the IS300 and it is definitely a nice car. It is not for everyone though, especially if your not a racer. Now my mom is no racer, in fact she's a 5'4" indian lady who doesn't speed at all but she really likes the car, but she could care less for the interior. I must say the interior is the only downfall, the mixture suede leather seating is only good if your the driver, but it is uncomfortable for all other passengers.

A year old, low milage Audi S4, or if you are a VERY VERY good negotiator, a brand new one.

Hey how about My 1967 Camaro RS SS with a 427 4 speed,Disc brakes,160 MPH speedo, 41,000 miles
i would let it go for $20,000, as I didn't get the New headliner in it yet this past fall.
I did get the New Centerforce clutch assembly in, & the New Flowmaster dual American Thunder exhaust
system under it.
The car Has a dual pumper holley 850, Hei electronic ignition, and No wimpy power steering,😉
