friends computer possible problem

i was talking to my friend online and he told me his computer gradually got quiter over about a 5 second period, he says all of his fans are running, there was nothing i could see that might make it quieter, the only thing i could think of is the cpu fan slowed way down for some reason, but he doesnt know what cpu cooler he has (go figure)

specs:
AMD aXP 3200+ 2.2GHz stock @ 2.4GHz
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo
ATI Radeon 9200 video card
Raidmax 420W power supply (with case)
WD 40GB HD
WD 120GB HD
 
Get him to run a Distributed Computing client like Folding@home (for Team anandtech of course). If he has a crash, then it might be something. Otherwise he probably has fans that self regulate. :beer:
