Friends Athlon Barton 2500+ reaches 57C on load! Does Biostar M7NCD Pro report high temps?

I built a new rig for my friend, and it is an athlon 2500+ w/ Biostar M7NCD Pro mobo. SK7 Heatsink, YS-Tech 48CFM Fan, Arctic Silver 3, and the whole 9 yards. It is clocked at Athlon 3200+, or 2.2GHZ, 11 x 200mhz. It is completely stable, but I am worried about the temps. Is it safe for it to reach temps that high? Does anybody know if this mobo reports temps high in latest revision of BIOS???
 
although the chip might be able to handle 57C, who cares? if it seems abnormal why not investigate it? an SK-7 and 48CFM fan should reduce its load temp to below 50C i would imagine. if u could post ambient temps...
 
Prime95 overnight w/o errors = good temps.
Temp monitoring through bios or windows software = inaccurate.
 
I agree with others that your temps of 57C are fine for an Athlon.

But your cooling setup should be able to cool lower than that. What are your case and room temperatures like? And what voltage (actual) are you runnign at?
 
My 2500+ runs 54 to 55c on Prime95.
(in my room temp of 80F)

Anything above 60 is Hot for a AMD chip. (IMO)
Your friends temps are fine.

Check out my Barton215 linky ,,, it has realtime temp running P95 AND 3dmark03 at the same time.
 
Most of users with low temp readings on air have inaccurate readings. It's common for motherboard to report 10-15 C cooler than actual temp.

My motherboard reports my idle temp at 40-41 C and load at 46 C but I know it's more like 55-60 idle and 65-70 C load.

60+ C is fine for AMD chip. Almost all these AMD chips on air are running near or above that. It's just that these users don't know it or are in denial.

I have swapped my AMD chips between my computers,, many times over the years.
(and many others do the same here also)

They have slight variations in readings ,,, you are correct there,,,
(depending on OEM,,, motherboard models,,,, and versions,,, and BIOS versions)

But,,, if you do your reseach ,,, you'll find ,,, most 'members' prefer temps below 60c
(and that's on air)

And that is because they know the temp readings are usually taken from a diode under the chip, not on the core.
(in a way you are correct)
