Friend was driving and nearly killed tonight.

She was driving her (she was stopped at a stop sign) car when suddenly her car was fired upon twice by an unseen assailant. She quickly sped off until she felt she was safe. She has NO idea what happened!

People are fucking crazy.

EDIT: FB Post: "If I didn't have faith in God before, I definitely do after tonight. Here are the holes from where I was shot at, while driving, a few hours ago."

"Yes I'm ok. I'm tired. Drained emotionally and physically. But I'm living. Thankfully."

The Lodge is a freeway here in Michigan. I misinterpreted her telling me earlier she was stopped, I assumed she meant at a sign but she said she she was slowing down coming off the freeway about to stop at a stop sign.

I think it was a case of mistaken identity. Whatever the case, she is lucky to be alive.


On a side note...the bullets didn't either pierce the windshield. Thank goodness.

You sure they were bullets? I'm not familiar with all calibers, but I'd think that just about any caliber would pierce a windshield if fired from a closer range (as opposed to the windshield being hit by an object.) And, if not fired from a relatively close range, those two shots are pretty close.

I never said they were close, but she said she was absolutely certain about what she heard and experienced.



She went to the police but they probably don't have much to go on. She said she is physically and emotionally drained right now but thankfully alive.
 
Wow pretty crazy!

I guess its possible it was a .22 if it was from sufficient range and/or at a sufficient low angle for the windshield to deflect the force like that. Otherwise I would imagine anything more than a BB gun would pierce the windshield.
 
Is she in MI too? They caught that fuckin nut that was shooting at people around the Northville, MI area not too long ago. Hopefully it's not happening again.

Glad she's safe.

the angle does a surprisingly good job of deflecting most rounds as I remember, especially if they are not particularly high energy rounds.

😱 Glad she seems ok, but traumatizing still. Just terrible really. Is this bad area she was in?

She was on the freeway, not in a neighborhood. Things like this don't typically happen, but we DID just have a guy caught who was firing upon drivers on I-96 here. He did it quite a few times and was finally caught.

The freeway goes all the way from Downtown Detroit to Southfield. I don't know exactly where she was. She just got online to let everyone know that she was okay.

Serious problem in Detroit. If she called 911, they probably wouldn't have responded. She needs to report this to the State Police I think.

I'm thinking this as well. And I'm going to be sexist and say her being a woman makes me twice as suspicious. I have got similar dings in my windshield from just driving around.

What makes it look like gunshots, though, is that the two breaks are of similar size. A good theory might also be BB gun, kids pranking. I used to throw rocks at cars

Mugging makes no sense to me. Probably one of the most inefficient ways of getting wealthy when you consider the amount gained per mugging and the risks involved.
 
Why always god? Okay, you are lucky to have avoided something nasty that surely might have got you. Thank god. You are unlucky enough to be hit by something terrible that has a very small chance of occurring. Thank god?

I doubt it. She said she was driving in from Southfield, the freeway dumps off into Detroit. She did not tell me where she was when this happened, only that she got to a "safe" place and called the police directly...then she was told to called back and tell them about it tomorrow..because they closed at 5.

*sigh* Detroit makes me so sad sometimes, the retarded shit thats going on at the Municipal level..such crap..such crap.

Lastly, I think you have this idea that simply being in Detroit means you are in danger. There are areas I wouldn't want to be in and there are areas that are mostly peaceful...poor and probably dilapidated..but peaceful. I don't think there's any gang initiations taking place on the freeway. Those idiots mostly stick to their blocks or an enemy's block for that. When you hear about someone being gunned down in Detroit it either happened in 1) A driveby 2) at a club 3) behind a club 4) at a recording studio 5) At a house
