My friend bought a few Dell 700m's with intent to sell (potentially to me). I've been looking for an ultra portable laptop, so I've been intrigued.
The price is still good. Based on how he configured out (which is how I would have, basically), it ended up being about $875 with tax or so. Without coupons and such it would have been $1500 before tax. He'd be selling it to me for slightly more (than $875), which is fine by me.
My concern... return policy and such. I'm not one to return something unless something is wrong with it. We're in college. He's a year ahead of me. He'll be graduating next year (2006). So I'll be around him for another year. The warranty lasts for a year, so I'll see him if I need the info or if I need him to do it as long as the warranty works). After that I don't know if I'd be able to return it without going through him.
Given that return policy issue, would you think it's a good idea for me to buy it from him? Would you consider buying a laptop under a similar situation if it's a laptop you really want?
Thanks for any responses.
