It is a 2006 and he picked it up for $4k, it has 260 miles on it. Some chick bought it and then let it sit for 4 years. The tank was faded and the exhaust was all rusty so he painted the tank and put a new 2 into 1 exhaust on it, then he put a GSXR front end on it thing looks brand new and badass with those upside down gold anodized forks and huge superbike brakes.

We're going up to Palomar next weekend and he's going to let me ride it.

I'll bring along a P&S camera and snap some pics. Can't wait to ride it. Should be fun. :p

A faded tank and rusted exhaust. What'd the previous owner do, let it sit out on the beach while the tide came in? Every day? The factory clearcoat on those things is 5 mills; most factory clearcoats are less than half that. It'd take some pretty serious neglect to get HD paint to fade.

Glad that it's got someone who'll take care of it now; crying shame to see machinery abused like its previous owner did.

I'll get some posted up next weekend. The bike looks awesome. Tank is painted orange and black with the Harley logo on it. I'm not sure if he painted it or bought a used tank for it or if he just buffed it back to its former glory. The front end looks really cool though with those beefy upside down forks and huge dual rotors with the GSXR radial calipers and that's the first thing I noticed when he pulled up on it.

He had a Suzuki Bandit 1200 and an SV650 prior to this. He also has a 1982 Kawasaki that is all original that he bought for nothing and fixed up. This guy could fix or ride anything I think.

my mom has one of those! hers doesnt sit for long tho, she had a lehman trike conversion done to it and rides it pretty much weekly. decent bikes, and that was a good price. im very curious to see this one with that front end on it, i never even considered the option. my moms has an aftermarket tree on hers with a slight rake tho, it was too squirrelly on turns with the stock front. i can see the benefit of a performance front end.

Helluva price for a newer 1200. Does it have a rubber mounted motor, or is it solid mount?

The '06 Sporties have rubber-mounted engines (IIRC the rubber mounting started in '04). Big improvement on the highway over the older models.

I thought bikes other than cruisers were branded as "Buell"

You're telling me. I've got an '83 Sportster with the ironhead motor. My entire body is numb after riding more than 50 or so miles. lol

This pic is what made me think it's a streetfighter type of bike

Harley did own a sport bike line called Buell, but there was nothing "Harley" about them. The line is gone, Harley pulled the plug. They wouldn't even sell it off, they simply closed the doors and fired everyone. They sold off MV Agusta as well, and God only knows why they bought it to begin with.
