Configured this out for him, i know its not the greatest deal, but he needs it sooner rather than later and wouldnt mind spending a bit more to ensure its slighly more futureproof. Think its overkill?

The E6300 is an overclocker's processor. For prebuilt machines, especially which won't be used for anything intensive, I suggest something along the lines of an Athlon X2 or even Pentium D system.
